Quick headlines

I had to return to upgrade my rating. I now begin and end my day with this app and have come to really appreciate the alerts during the Olympics, Academy Awards, Ukranian uprising and weather events. It provides headlines, so no network bias, and a link if you need more info. Lately they've included more photos, which is great. Very handy on ipad. I can't say enough good about this app. The only problem: after the last update it has begun to have difficulty loading, as in "The request has timed out". Twice In the past week I've had to dump and reload this app to make it work. Typical "update". I would also ditch the "whoa" feature. Sometimes when you haven't visited in awhile, the app asks if you would like to skip to the recent news. Say "yes" all you want; it doesn't work.

Whoa! Geo-locate major news stories happening near you.

The "Breaking News" app is taking major, developing news stories to a whole new level. This is the only app that searches for major news stories developing near your current location. You can change the diameter of the major news geofence from 100 miles down to 1 mile. Also, the breaking news geofence will follow you wherever you go (if you want it to).

No longer do I have to search for Breaking News... Breaking News finds me whenever it is happening nearby. I love this app.

Get Rid of the Whoa Button

I like this app, and it works well on my newly acquired Apple Watch. You gave Brian Williams a second chance, so I will do the same for you. Get rid of the imbecilic WHOA button, on both the watch and the app, and I will keep using your app, while also having a much higher degree of respect for the people of NBC.

It’s the last word I read for every story on the Apple Watch App. Small child murdered. Whoa. Fireman dies helping others. Whoa. Plane crash kills hundreds. Whoa. Are you proud of this?

What happens when I hit the WHOA button? I am told how many OTHER idiots hit the WHOA button as well. I just did if for the first time and saw “17 WHOAS!”. That number, while comforting, as it shows there are not as many pinheads in your audience as you assume, should also tell you to get rid of this ASAP.

Honestly, the person responsible for this should be ashamed, and any NBC employee that reads this and doesn’t act immediately to have it removed does not belong in journalism.
