Breathless MIDI Controller is a new kind of musical instrument with a configurable fingering system that uses four fingers of each hand. The default fingering is familiar to recorder, flute or sax players, the main difference is that octave change is done by moving the iPad forward. Another big difference is that you do not blow, but the lateral movement changes the expression.

Almost a great app
The sounds are great, and the concept of using the iPad as a controller is great. I want to use this more but won’t be able to because of the unnecessary fingering constraints. The developer has worked a way to hold the iPad and use Sax fingering. I like that because I play the sax. However, I am not in a place to hold the iPad that way. The keys move, but the software constraints prevent users from moving the keys to an ergonomic position for me. It would be so easy to allow the changes, and I requested this from the developer weeks ago. I was excited to see the revision update mention fingerboard, but I’m disappointed to still have an almost great app that I can almost use. Maybe on the next rev?
