What's New in Version 1.2.2
Improvements for iOS8, you early adopter, you.
I enjoyed the first version of the app. Just a simple step counter that ran in the background and didn't jurt battery life. However, just like the other apps in the RunKeeper family, the developed seems determined to annoy users. The previous version would ask maybe once or twice a week if the app could send push notifications. The only choices were "not now" and "Okay." There was no "no, never" option, but that was OK--the requests were infrequent. However, after this latest update, the app pops up this window EVERY TIME you access the app. Check it 5 times in a minute--that same window pops up 5 times. No way to disable it that I can find. I would gladly pay for this app if this annoyance could be fixed.
Another annoyance - the app has the option to rate it from within the app. But - if you try to give a one-star rating, the rating isn't accepted and it opens a web page to the developer website.
Stupid tricks like these are why I quit using RunKeeper after 4 years, and why I deleted this app. And it's sad because I like both apps and would happily pay for them if the annoyances would go away.
I'm more active thanks to Breeze
I really like this app and it does what it's designed to do quite well (with the exception of mapping my walks, but it seems to work for other people and I haven't even bothered to contact support yet- once I do I'm guessing it'll work fine).
This is a step counter designed to help you walk more. And once it gets you walking more, it encourages you to do more than that. I have several fitness apps on my phone that count my steps, in addition to tracking calories and a bunch of stuff. Their step tracking features are just kind of depressing for me because I only look at the data at the end of the day and then am reminded of what a sloth I am.
Breeze, with its notifications, reminds me to check in on my progress to my walking goal throughout the day. This is super helpful for me. It also sends me messages when I've done great and let's me know when I'm slipping and may not meet that days goal. It's interactive.
If that's the kind of app you want then Breeze is a great choice. If you want more features or something that won't send you updates on your progress, then there are lots of other great apps out there to choose from. Breeze has actually helped me increase my activity level and I am grateful for that.
So I already knew I was pretty sedentary at work (I sit at a desk all day), but this app definitely gets me up and moving with reminders and other notifications. I don't mind the notifications (as some other reviewers have expressed great frustration over the app asking to allow notifications), I actually enjoy them. The notifications give me motivation to continue moving throughout the day rather than sitting at my desk for hours on end. I like that it gives me an estimate of where I usually am by a certain time of day also.
I gave it four stars because from what I see you can't set your own goals, they are adjusted based on your previous activity. Also, when I open the app it doesn't always refresh to the most current step count. I usually have to tap the white marker and then close the explanation to have it refresh.
