** Learn to tell the time and become a Time-Telling Ninja, with help from Sensei and Monkey **
“My daughter didn't know how to tell the time on an analog clock before playing with this app”
“It’s amazing how the challenge of getting his karate belts motivated my son to want to learn how to tell the time”
Bright Ninja: Tells Time starts teaching how to tell the time from the very basics. Master teacher Sensei, along with his cheeky sidekick Monkey help young ninjas to enter the dojo on a quest to become ‘Time-Telling Ninja!’
Sensei and Monkey guide children through a series of 7 differently coloured karate belts of difficulty culminating in the Black Belt, covering everything from the basics such as learning how to identify an analogue clock and its hands, all the way up to telling the time at every hour and minute of the day. Within each belt, children will learn an element of telling the time, practise it by moving the hands of the clock and, when they're ready, test themselves by identifying the correct time shown by a series of clock faces. This triggers a fun series of karate moves for the selected young Ninja character, and ends in the young Ninja being awarded a karate belt by Sensei.
The app will save your child's current belt ranking between plays, so they can work their way up to black belt in their own time. It also allows you to save 5 player profiles so the whole family can play.

Fun and educational
Love this app. It's a great learning tool and engaging. I do think the achievement of earning belts is too short a few more repetitions would be great. You can just start over, that would be an option. It's also great in teaching half past and a quarter after concepts. It would be great if it could say...half past two or 2:15. Children have a hard time understanding there are two names for quarters on the clock. I also noticed sometimes the clock will say 4:20, but the clock is pointing to 4:21 this doesn't happen all the time, just some of the time. Overall it's really fun and the animation is cute. Love the earning of belts concept. Improvements would be to add a section with an analog clock that you can play with freely by moving the hands to your own choices of time. Correcting the accuracy of the minute hand on the clock. Also perhaps making the belts harder to earn by adding levels within each belt for better mastery. We have used 4 other apps and this one is the fun and engaging without being distracting with the game rather than learning the clock.
Great, but a little short
I love this app for the most part. My daughter loves it and it's really helped her understand some time concepts. A couple of things to improve it. First it's a little short. My daughter went through the whole this twice in an afternoon. This is partly because she figured out she could skip the practice and go straight to testing for the 'belts'. I wish the test had been locked until she d practiced for awhile. 2nd, it doesn't practice just straight, plain 'setting the clock'. I wish it had a section where it asked her to set the time to a very specific time such as 10:43. It's all quarter to, and half past, and there is some 5 past and 10 to, but no specific time. I'm still glad I bought it, but I would have been disappointed if I spent anymore for it.
My kids love this app. The animation is adorable and they love competing against each other. I don't mind them playing on it because it is educational. It's a great way for the little ones to learn how to tell time. Well done!
