Wonderful, wonderful tool!
Been using this for years without fail. Developer is great. Tool is great - it handles browser changing with Epichrome like a superstar. Really improves browser experience and segregation between specialized browsers so that I can pick up where I left off more easily and cleanly than by just using a single browser for everything.
Couldn't live without Browser Fairy!
Excellent Choice for the Multi-Browser User
First, I must say there is a minor drawback to this app; it doesn’t recognize all browsers, (i.e. Tor Browser). But with that said, this is an amazing app - allowing the customization of rules for transparent and streamlined controls of what browser a link opens and under what circumstances (specific keywords in the URL and/or sourcing from what app).
For instance, you can craft a rule that opens any link from Mail to automatically in Safari, while definingn an alternate browser as your default for all other links.
However, given the previously mentioned drawback, I have decided to combine this with Buffet. The two together work in harmony - adding full browser support while being able to create custom rules. That is what Choosy was intended to do, but was a huge fail. I guess that is why Choosy isn’t listed in the App Store.
My setuip is simple. Browser Fairy is my system defined default browser. If no rules exists to open a specific link, then Browser Fairy directs the request to Buffet. Buffet produces the full list of installed browsers for which to open the link.
Lastly, I gave a 4-star rating because this app doesn’t support all browsers. It would be awesome if this app expanded to include support for every browser that one may have installed. I wonder, if is possible to code a system that check would identify possible browsers…?
It worked well some time, however, now it stuck everyday.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
