The free multi-award winning Brush DJ app is suitable for use by all ages and features in the new NHS Apps Library. This toothbrush timer app plays 2 minutes of music from your devices, cloud or streaming service - to make toothbrushing for an effective length of time less boring!
Brush DJ has been developed by a dentist for anyone wanting to reduce their risk of gum disease and tooth decay. The app helps keep your smile healthy and breath fresh. Also, by using this app you will find new songs and rediscover your music collection- from guilty pleasures to holiday anthems!
Brush DJ works with either a manual or electric toothbrush and allows you to set reminders to:
•Change your toothbrush/brush head every 3 months
•Brush at least twice a day
•Floss/clean interdentally every day
•Use a mouthrinse at a different time to toothpaste
•When next to visit dentist, hygienist, orthodontist or dental therapist
You can choose the colour of the screen and timer to match your toothbrush, bathroom or just pick your favourite colour combinations. There are short animated videos showing how to carry basic oral hygiene tasks such as flossing, using and interdental brush and a manual toothbrush. The latest evidence-based age specific information is given from the Public Health England toolkit ‘Delivering Better Oral Health’. Free updates will be available whenever new oral health information is released.
Feedback on how you feel Brush DJ can be improved is welcomed via www.brushDJ.com. Here you can also let us know your favourite song to brush to, which might make it into the weekly Brush DJ Top 5 chart!
In this release, we have optimised Brush DJ for iPhone X and made some UX improvements
Ratings and Reviews
Works great- why not make visual teeth/mouth instead of just a circle?
Love this app. I use in sessions with clients as a pediatric OT and recommend to parents. I just wish the visual was more concrete, or that there was an option to change the progress visual to actual teeth in the shape of a mouth. Or maybe even like 4-5 different visual progress options. like a train chugging along a track, teeth, circle, clock, flower pedals. Just a thought to keep kids’ interest and to appeal to children who need something more concerted (I.e. ASD)

Thank you for this feedback :) We are working on the next version of the app and your suggestions are great! Can you let us know other ways the app can be improved? Either reply to this review or contact us via email@example.com.
Thank you for your help and time. Ben
I use this app for my 5yo daughter who loooves music. Before introducing her to this app it’s was always a battle to get her to brush her teeth. While brushing her teeth it was a struggle to still. She was impatient with the process. Now she can’t wait to brush her teeth, and sits still through the process (her brushing first & Mom or Dad follow up afterwards). Love this app. It’s has made brushing her teeth fun rather than a choir.

Thank you for the kind review and great news that your daughter now looooves to brush :) We are working on the next version and any suggestions on improvements are welcomed. Ben
I actually look forward to brushing!
I love this app! It is so much fun to turn on my favorite music and have a solo dance party in my bathroom every time I brush my teeth! Plus my teeth always feel fresh-from-the-dentist clean because it ensures I brush them the full two minutes.
