The Buddha Machine is a palm-sized plastic box that plays meditative music loops composed by Christiaan Virant and Zhang Jian.
The New York Times calls the Buddha Machine “beautifully useless,” while the Washington Post describes it as "bliss."
This iPad version allows you to mix the music of SIX Buddha Machines to create your own evolving ambient symphony!
Featuring hypnotic music designed to create a calming presence in today's fast-paced world, the Buddha Machine’s colorful charm provides an experience that is hard to define. Essentially, it's a box with a life; a tool for living, and to many, a friend.
What's New in Version 1.1

Ignore review re: no audio in standby
Ignore negative review below that complains about no continued playback in standby The dev's simply made playback in standby an OPTION you can turn on/off to suit your preference. The reviewer below was too ignorant or lazy to figure this out before he posted a negative review for an app he supposedly otherwise loved.
This is an incredible meditative music generator and allows tons of experimentation and variance in how you mix the loops together. Highly recommended.
Great app before the last update.
This app really is great to help relax, but ever since the update it doesn't play audio while the iPad is in standby any more. Once the screen is inactive, it just fades out.
I use this a lot to relax, but that won't work any more. It is basically useless now because it won't play without the screen on and it won't play while in other apps.
The audio is great quality, and not obviously repetitive.
Really enjoying it for the relaxation it brings to mind and body. All that's needed is a sleep timer, which may be coming as it's included in the iPad version, but that's a very small concern. I like it; in fact I like them both.
