Bugle is a free notification service for active people that lets your emergency contacts know if you don't check in when you expected to.
Before going somewhere, enter your activity details, select your emergency contacts, and select a check-in time. As long as you return safely and check in by the time you selected, nothing happens. But if you don't check in on time, your emergency contacts are notified automatically by e-mail and SMS that you may need help.
Bugle was built with input from Search and Rescue professionals, outdoor instructors, guides, and countless participants. It provides a fully private safety net that you define. Equipped with your activity information, the people who know you best will know when and where to look for you.
More fun. Less worry.™
IS BUGLE FOR YOU?
Whether you're going for a run around the neighborhood, a hike in the mountains, or into town to complete a Craigslist transaction, Bugle can make you safer when you're out and about. It will make sure someone knows when and where to look for you should something ever go wrong.

Perfect for its purpose
Nice, concise little app. Does everything it says it does. Could freak out people worried about privacy, but pick and choose what info you want to include. The only other similar product I've found is a web app called Hiker Alert, which is $5. Quick way to give an itinerary for a day hike or weekender just in case. One thing I noticed which is nifty: if you choose to send your itinerary, it alerts your contact when you check in; if you don't send your itinerary, it only messages your contact once your overdue. Nice way to have a backup without overly worrying people.
I haven’t had to use this in a real situation and hopefully won’t, but my test runs of it have worked perfectly! I do a lot of solo hiking, trail running, and skiing in the mountains and love the idea that this will alert my emergency contacts if I’m overdue. I’ve always left written itineraries with friends but this takes out the step of them having to remember to check on it. It was easy for me to set up and easy for my contacts to see all the info they needed. I had a quick question and customer support was great!
BEST APP for Active Lifestyle!
If you are on-the-GO people like we are, this is absolutely THE BEST APP to let others know where you're going and what you're doing OUTDOORS...skiing, hiking, running, cross-country driving, etc. It notifies your "emergency contacts" of your itinerary, route and expected return time...
Should you not "check-in" as expected, your family/friends have the information needed to notify authorities/first response personnel.
BE SAFE, not sorry.
