I've never been much of a runner, but just ran my first 5K due to this app. It broke down what felt impossible (running for 30 minutes) into a series of achievable goals. The first couple of weeks I repeated a few days, but soon found that I could keep up, even when a day's goal seemed so much harder than the day before (literally, running 3 minutes straight was scary the first time around). The pacing is perfect. Had no issues with notifications, as long as you remember to turn your phone off vibrate mode, which the app reminds you of when you start a workout!
My only objection is that although the app runs on time running/walking, the later workouts include a distance measurement (i.e. Run 20 minutes or 2 miles), which as a new runner was not an achievable pace (10 minute miles), so I used mileage tracking with a different app to compensate. It would be great if we could input an average running pace and have the app adjust its timing based on that. Anyway, still 5 stars because that wasn't too hard to deal with and by the time I got to that point, I was already comfortable enough on my own.
Seriously, I can't recommend this app or program enough. It's made a huge difference in my personal fitness and I can't wait to get up to a 10K over the next few months.

Let me stress I am NOT a runner. The hardest part is getting started. There were plenty of times I said to myself "I can't" during these weeks but then I did. I fell once, I tossed my cookies twice, had to ice my legs for the first 3 weeks but I kept at it. I downloaded this C25K app for my Lenten sacrifice (instead of giving up something) as well as to celebrate the art of running since it was the Boston Marathon weekend. I specifically chose a 5K Easter /Marathon Weekend. That being said, I did complete this workout regime within 6 weeks and not eight ( I ran 4 days per weeks instead of 3). Absolutely amazingly. I just completed my 5K race 4 days ago in 31:08. My main goal was to complete a 5k without any walking at all. I am a 26 year old female weight roughly 170 lb. I actually just walked into my apartment after running another 3.2 miles before work today. Can't thank you enough. Hopefully I stick with it. Its not always easy for all 3 miles still but its worth it. I feel great and people have noticed a positive change in my attitude. I'm shooting for a 10K in the summer!!! Good luck everyone!!!! You have nothing to lose. If you need to walk a little extra here and there, so be it.
Exactly what I needed
This was the perfect app to get me into a consistent exercise routine. I was able to complete the entire 5K in about 8.5 weeks. Every other time in the last few years I have tried to get into a consistent routine ESPECIALLY with running I would only last 2 weeks and struggled to pace myself or be motivated to keep it up. This app helped me so much because it starts with small manageable times/distances that I could actually achieve and feel good about. It not only paces you with gradually increasing distances but literally paces you as you are running with voice alerts to start running or start walking--so no more fidgeting with a watch or phone timer that get you out of the zone while running. There were a few increases that seemed a little bit of a big jump but I went for them anyways and was pleasantly surprised that I was able to do it! If you are truly a beginner and struggle with any of the increases you can easily repeat days. I pair it with the mapmyrun app (because this app doesn't record/map exact distance) and it works seamlessly! All I can say is JUST DOWNLOAD IT (it's free) AND TRY IT (it might just work and you might just LIKE it)!!!
