Good base game

ness013

The mechanics are really solid and the flavor is good, but the overall package is lacking. The multiplayer options are very weak. Where is my playing with friends online or locally? With a game with no interaction on other players turns, why is there no asynchronous multiplayer? Why does the game kick me out to the login screen every time I close the app? And a trading card game with no trading? Why not offer a one-for-one trade after matches, or a dedicated trading bazaar? It would be nice to have something to do with the extra cards after 3 (maybe sell them for in-game currency or exp).

The complaints about lack of deck variety are valid. There is too much same-y-ness in the lower cost and rarity cards. Does every faction need a 1 power 1+1 cost guy and a 2+1 cost accelerator? How about more spells? They could really spice things up. There is a hint that more control style decks might work that win through domination points might be possible, but there just aren't the cards to back it up yet. The power levels of cards is just too even, too. And your card language needs to make it clear that why you discard a card, you get no choice (minor gripe, but important stuff).

Anyway, this is a really good base game and I can't wait for it to be fully fleshed out with more modes and content.

Design Flaws

RElGNMAN

This game has some major issues. Card cost is too low for some power cards, no mulligan rule, maps are way too small for most match ups. Then there are mechanics like freezing a card in place for a turn or permanently which for a board game is extremely difficult to return from. Most games your loss can be traced back to missing 1st turn drops or one over powered combo due to small map issues. Last but not least even they admit their cards were under priced and to even them out they performed errata to push them higher. And to add insult they allow you to trade your extra cards in for more faction friendly costs but did not consider this adds to more game unbalance for map sizes! (Did you guys forget that you made those costs that high to inhibit ease of cross faction decks because of their power and by dropping cost the map size should naturally increase to compensate?) It appears that you have and because of this I am out this game is not recommended and means you need to drop a lot of money as the top 20 players have. If your new to this game do not play ranked until you spend at least $100 for two factions! Later!

A well balanced card game

Beaker001

In my search for playable iOS card games, this one sticks out as a winner. I like the strategy and resource management, and the theme is unique and well done. There are endless way to play the game and the sets of cards are well balanced. Each of the four heroes has unique cards that can confer a specific advantage to the player, but none of them seem powerful enough to always be the winner. The ability to buy booster packs, complete play sets, and individual cards from the shop is very convenient and useful for deck design, and there is a lot of opportunity for expansion. My only criticism: Upon starting the app for the first time you are asked to choose a hero and then given a deck to go with the hero. It would be useful to know a little more about the hero and deck you will receive before being asked to make a choice. It's a great game and I look forward to hours of play in the future.
