Once you figure out the bugs...

I miss the Sunrise calendar so much. This one has a long way to go to replace it, but I do like it. Some of the issues others have been reporting have come up with me as well. I saved an event three times without it showing up on my calendar, then gave up and closed the app. I opened it again and the event was there three times. I've since started closing the app every time I add or delete an event, and this seems to resolve the issue. It is annoying to have to do that, though.

But I love the features and the interface that greets you when you open the app. I like how it tells you how much free time you'll have between events as well as what your next obligation is. I also like how it only displays the current week, but the month view is easily accessible. Both views are important but most calendar apps force me to make a cumbersome trek between the two. Not Cal, though.

If you are patient enough to work with the bugs, I think you'll like this app. If you want a seamless experience and don't let things slide easily, I wouldn't buy it. But I would keep an eye out for when the developers work out all the kinks, because this is the best calendar app design out there.

Great look but unreliable.

It's an attractive app but beyond that, there's not much I do like. To start, I've been trying to create the same event for the last ten minutes. First, the app crashed when trying to save basic information such as title and time of event. I reopened the app to try again and each time I try to save it, when I think I'm done the calendar jumps back over a year. I return to the day I'm trying to schedule to verify it and all that was saved is a "new event" for 9am (my event is at 4pm). This keeps happening. I can't seem to save an event to repeat for a set number of weeks either. I didn't get the reminder I was supposed to for the only event that has saved properly. I'm just completely underwhelmed by this app. I was previously using Tempo but they're abandoning it basically and I needed to find a replacement. This was not a good option. So much work still needs to be done and I need something that's going to be reliable which is not Cal.

I want to like this app so badly.

I really do. And so I keep trying, keep updating in hopes that they will improve, but I will need to move on. The app is one of the most attractive calendar apps. It's innovative in style and concept. But the app crashes regularly. I can't confidently rely on it to save my appts correctly. Sometimes I'll save an event, and it will close and take me to six months ago. Then I have to scroll forward six months, only to find it hasn't saved my event. I have an early morning appt today that I'm hoping saved on the correct day; I'm arriving completely blindly. Also, the invitation to others never works, either. I have to go into my iPhone calendar if I need to share an event with someone. The whole point to having a separate app is that I don't want to use the iPhone app. I've tried for well over a year. I didn't want to give up, but this is it. I hope it improves!
