Good calculator app, great conversion app
I used version 2.1.2 on an iPad running iOS 9.2.1. On the surface level, this is just an average calculator application. It has a very simple to use interface and a comfortably large array of mathematical commands, mostly the expected functions, but it also has some nice unusual parts, too, such as Euler’s Number, the standard acceleration of gravity, speed of light, etc. My favorite part, however, is the conversion table, offering conversions for many different types of data, including: currency, speed, mass, and even work. This is a very nice feature, considering there are some ludicrously complex conversion rates, such as those between a quart and a liter, with the conversion having over eight decimal places, so with the conversion table being a swipe over from the calculator side, it’s much easier to convert data between units. Another nice aspect of this application is that it supports Apple Watches, admittedly, I don’t have one, however, it’s nice to have that option. One downside is that it supposedly holds onto some conversions for those who pay a monthly membership fee, however, in my experience, I never ran into a conversion that was not available in the suite of the units available to free users. Overall, this app is a great tool for people not doing extremely complex math, and would probably work great alongside a high school Trigonometry or Algebra class.
Consistently my favorite calculator app for years
Calcbot (in all of its iterations) has been my calculator of choice for years, most often used for 1) depositing multiple checks at the bank drive-thru, and 2) tallying scores for my wife's Irish dance competitions. In both cases, it performs admirably, especially thanks to the history tape that lets me double-check my work at a glance.
The unit conversion feature (requires $2 Pro upgrade) works very nicely too, with tons more options than I'll ever need—although the choice to have users switch back to the calculator screen to change the numeric figure and then switch back again feels odd. I can see why they did it that way, though. Doesn't hamper my love for the app at all.
Horrible replacement for convertbot
I had purchased convertbot and just restored my phone when upgrading to ios9 and noticed it was no longer on my phone or available in the App Store. This is a terrible replacement that makes conversions a hassle. Why did you kill convertbot? This is basically a calculator app that threw conversions in as an after thought. VERY disappointed and not not ever support this developer again.
As a side note to any other unhappy convertbot users that lost convertbot I was able to fine it on my iTunes backup and the app works perfectly fine on ios9. Not sure why the developer made the decision to pull convertbot from tha App Store when it works just fine and could be a continued revenue stream for them. Anyway look to your iTunes and you might be lucky and able to get back the app that works great for conversions.
