Ratings and Reviews
One of my favorite games
I love this game because it is more than just a CCG, and more than just a math game. To succeed at it, you really have to master both aspects, each of which are original and very well thought out. The later foes in Calculords can be quite challenging even after you've done this, so it keeps me coming back, and every time I do I feel like I've dusted off a bit of my brain I don't use nearly enough, and learn a bit more about how I think in the process, which is pretty cool.
To me, this is absolutely a five star game that deserves a lot more popularity than it's enjoyed. My one wishlist item would be a less difficult mode for kids. I've introduced the game to some smart kids I know, one as young as seven, and it's been amazing watching them pick up the arithmetic side, but the CCG mechanics can still get a bit beyond them. A simplified mode could be a really great educational tool!
Surprisingly really good
I originally downloaded this solely because it was conceived by Seanbaby, a comedian of whom I’ve been almost a lifelong fan. Naturally, i wanted to show a bit of love. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I am. It’s like Magic: The Gathering meets Plants vs. Zombies only utilizing number combinations as your “mana pool”. It’s a ton of fun and weirdly educational. One could almost see teachers using this as a tool for basic math practice.
The difficulty spike after the third level is pretty harsh, but not unbeatable. Anybody complaining that this is a p2w game is realistically just bad at math (although I did end up purchasing the lot of it after Cytosinor. Worth it.). If you give somebody something free and awesome, you’re still guaranteed to have at least a few people whining about it.
The genius of Ninja Crime's "calculords"
When I was first introduced to calculords, I was in Florida visiting relatives when my uncle said that since I was not especially gifted in mathematics that I ought to have a look at this new mobile game that had come out the previous year. When he sat down to show me, I was utterly entranced. As the battle against colonel krak came to a halt (in my uncle's favour) I was changed forever. This new mobile game was completely and utterly genius, just plain genius. What was this new game that I hadn't heard about until this moment? Fast forward to 2017 and I am playing CALCULORDS every day. It has taken control of my life, my very soul. So if you like a good challenge as well as a good game you should get Ninja Crime's CALCULORDS. Easily the best game of 2014
