Incredibly unstable

Once you get to the gameplay, the game is great. But, there are so many cinematics between the gameplay that you spend five minutes watching the story, then two minutes actually playing.

Multiplayer is ok. But, there is not nearly as much of a following as there was with MW so your choice of servers is incredibly limited. You may have a choice of 3-5 servers.

The bigger problem is the game is the single player mode is incredibly unstable. I am lucky to play for 30 minutes without it crashing. Once you are playing, its fine. But if you die or get to one of the cinematics, so every few minutes, it’s a 50/50 shot if it will freeze when trying to load the next gameplay segment. This is running on a top spec Retina MBP so graphics or processing power is not the issue. It is bad enough that I am considering trying to get my money back. If I had not bought it when they had a discount and paid full price, I would definitely be trying to get my money back. It seems that the saved game files are getting corrupted. So, when it goes to reload a saved game, it hangs and freezes. Your only option is to go back to the menu, select play level, and start the level from the beginning.

I bought this game last night, thinking it’d be nice to change it up for once and use my PS3 controller with my mac, since I sold my PS3 a couple months ago and i’m kinda missing the action. The game played great if you are useing the keyboard controls and a mouse. Well, the controller connects fine. I used an online guide to help me with that a long time ago. I connected my controller and launched the game, everything fine. But when I enabled the gamepad in settings, it only has support for an Xbox 360 controller, so all the triggers on my PS3 controller are backwards and it is a huge hinderance to my gameplay. Please fix this before I will be anywhere near satisfied with a $50 purchase! I would’ve thought by now they woyld have things straightened out.

Windows via Steam, or nothing at all

Honestly, hugely dissapopinted with how this game was ported for the Mac. After monitoring my system (MBPR late 2013) processes, and what and how this game runs, it’s as if ASPYR just droped the Windows game files into an emulator; it hoggs memory and processor threads, overloads the GPU with redundent and continuous processes, and it will spontaniously kill core game processes (not the ASPYR launcher, but the actual game). Your best bet is to dual boot with Windows 7/8, get a Steam account, and enjoy the benifits of having 2 computers for the price of 1(.5-2). On that note, I would even go as far to say that it’s a waste of money to buy any desktop-class computer games via the Mac App Store, considering how most of the games in question are either ported from Windows (horribly), or sloppily composed in general.
