They have lost my trust... sold out to pop up ads

I loved this app and used it every day for 3 years give or take but since the last update they just took a step too far. There are pop up ads that redirect you to the Apple Store upon start up and there are pop up adds that redirect you when you want to add meals randomly. I emailed customer support but they seriously do not care despite their words. They say that they do not want to have bad ads or intrusive content that interrupts the flow of their app but that their partners may not all be following their guidelines for marketing. So they just recommend that I upgrade to their premium services. I have thought about it several times wanting to support them but they just do not offer additional services that I feel I need for my goals and just cannot justify it. And then they get desperate and put pop up ads in their programming. 😤😡 I have told more people to use this program than I can count. But based on their customer service standardized letter trying to get me to sign up for premium and since they sold out big time I cannot bring myself to support them until they get their goals straight. Are you here to just make money at all costs and give up your loyal users or are you committed to finding new features we would all support so that we prefer your premium version? Just so frustrating and feels like such a backwards ways of doing business.

Great app

While I would love it to be add free, for an upgrade you do have the option to do this. I guess it has to make money somehow. That is really my only grievance. Great app. Easy to use. The more you use it, the more it "knows" you and how you eat which makes it even EASIER to use. For me, journaling food is the best way to keep myself honest about my diet and maintain a healthy weight. The only other thing that is a little odd is how extremely different calorie burn per activity is estimated between my Garmin, Strava app and MFP app. I guess they are estimates, however, but sometimes it is crazy different. I tend to use my Garmin estimate as it died use my heart rate versus an arbitrary weight and exercise general-ish calculation. Anyway, love the app. I don't log every single day but if I feel like I'm getting a little chubby or during taper weeks (I'm a marathoner) I log religiously until I'm feeling race ready.

CHANGED MY LIFE!

First of all I waited over a month to give this review. I wanted to make sure the app did not crash are just did not work.
25 pounds lighter after 6 weeks.
I have tried just about every diet out there and they all help you loose water weight and some can cost a ton of $$$ and some are not heathy. With FitnessPal I have learned how to eat three times a day and loose weight every week!
Counting calories is working for me! My Dr was shocked and now he advises using FP.
I use the free version and have no problems at all!
You have to be committed and discipline. Sure it was hard! 2 week for me I was crawling the walls wanting to binge! Thank goodness I had the will power not to tho. After I settled in on my suggested Calories I started challenging myself to lower it every day! As a 54 year old male I must take in 1250 calories a day or it will tell you you are being unhealthy.
Other than walking 5-7k steps a day no other exercise needed to shed the pounds.
Recently I am starting to lift weights to start toning my muscles. My goal is to loose 70lbs. 45 to go and at 2 lbs a week this July I will be back confident and ready to get back in them swim trunks and show off my results from FitnessPal.
