What's New in Version 7.4

You’ll want to eat up the improvements we’ve made to creating custom meals:

•Create a custom meal for foods you often eat together to make logging faster.
•See a breakdown of calories, carbs, protein, fat and nutrients for the meals you create.
•To get started, tap “Meals” when you’re adding a food to your diary.

This is our first release that no longer supports iOS 8. You can keep using iOS 8 for now, but you’ll need to upgrade to iOS 9 or above to start taking advantage of all of our new features.

This release also includes bug fixes, performance updates, and improved reliability.

Fantastic, needs commitment though

This is perfect if you really really want to lose weight. You must enter every bit of food to get an accurate picture of your calorie intake so it does require commitment, especially when you eat foods that are non-processed and don't have a handy barcode! But like most things in life, the more effort you put in the better the outcome. It's a real eye opener... it's so easy to go over your calorie limit, way too easy and I find this app brings me back every time I use it. I got it first almost 6 years ago after the birth of my second child...and 25 lbs to lose..... I've used it intermittently since then when I need to and am back at it after no. 4 with 30 lbs to lose! It's a total reality check after eating what and when I wanted during pregnancy. It has certainly helped me reel it in.

Easy to use, but some room for improvement

Easy and quick to use, which encourages me to actually use it. The nutrition database is large, and entering your own foods or recipes is easy. It syncs well with the iPhone's built-in step tracker. (Yesterday there was one moment where it reset my steps to zero after an update, but I quit and restarted the app, and that fixed it.)

However, I do wish search results would prioritize "verified" calorie counts when available, rather than just showing every entry anyone's ever made. Yesterday I searched for "NY strip steak" and got calorie counts for a 6 oz serving ranging from 250 to 500! Usually the variation isn't that huge, so it doesn't matter as much, but this time it did. In this case, I had to search by the alternate name "beef top loin steak" to get better answers. It would be great if the database were curated a little bit better.

Would also be great to be able to edit recipes -- or at least look back at their ingredients.

(I also wish they'd ditch the front-page ad showing a kid vomiting/spitting up. Gross.)

Fantastic tool

For the first time since my early 20s, I am at the weight that I want to be and have maintained it for six months. For 30 years, my weight has fluctuated between 10 and 20 pounds over. This is such a great application because it's the right amount of accountability and flexibility that allows me to enjoy foods that I really love without feeling deprived. I love how it syncs with my Garmin device, and that I get those extra calories for my workouts! It's a lifetime, livable program and I am finally at the weight that is on my drivers license!
