Losing Weight Will Never Be Easy But...

My fitness pal has made it possible. I started my process using a different app, which was also pretty good. I switched to my fitness pal at the request of a friend who is also dieting, when she suggested that we be each other's accountability partners. That was the feature that the other app did not have. This app makes it easy to record everything I put in my mouth, because in nearly 70 days of tracking I haven't managed to come up with anything that wasn't in its database. And knowing someone else can see what I eat every day motivates me to try to make better choices. The best part though is that it tracks all of the nutrition facts about the things that I eat. This allows me to recognize the weak areas of my diet and to focus on the things that I need to improve. I decided to try a low-carb diet, and this app has made it possible to do that without neglecting important nutrients. I've lost nearly 60 pounds. I still have a long way to go, but I couldn't be happier with my experience with this program.

Great Way to Keep Track of Nutrients!

Ever since I switched to a vegan diet I have been concerned if I am not getting enough of the proper nutrients to function, such as protein, calcium, and iron. Although when I began using MyFitnessPal I have been able to make sure I am eating enough protein and I can easily track what I nutrients I need more or less of throughout the day. This app keeps me on track of my diet and it is so much easier to use rather than googling the nutritional facts of everything I eat (like a cup of broccoli). I would highly recommend this to anyone who is changing their diet or anyone who just wants to make sure they're eating healthy. The only thing I would change is when your making your profile it asks if you want to maintain your current weight, lose weight, or gain weight but it does not say gain muscle. Besides that, I completely love this app and I use it every day!

Really good app

I really really really like this app. Easy to use and does what I need. Tracking intake is (at least for me) vital to weight loss.

Small nits prompt a 4 star instead of 5 star rating: 1) calorie averages include the current (i.e. often incomplete) day, pulling down the average so you can't use that figure as a quick proxy to see how you're doing for the least not in the middle of a day. 2) Why do I have to log in on a desktop to adjust prior weights, enable negative calories, etc. ? Wish the app had all of the functionality of the site. 3) I've had some issues w syncing Fitbit (not sure if that's a Fitbit or MFP problem). It would be cool if I could annotate the progress chart to identify weeks where I gained/lost and associate with avg calories/exercise/or other notations (like that's the week I had to travel for business etc). That would help me better identify historical patterns and relationships.
