Have been using for 1 month

So far so good. I have lost a solid 6 lbs and it has been about a month. My goal was to lose about 12 lbs just to get back toward the middle/lower end of healthy weight for my age and height. I was at the middle/upper end of healthy, but it happened because of a medication I was on for about 5 months. Messed up my awesome metabolism, not I have to actually be careful about what I eat. Darn.
Anyway, I set it to help me lose 1 lb per week. Much of the time I lost way more than that, but you go up and down. I do not exercise so I love that this app can count my steps (if I have my phone on me) and then I can actually see the benefit of walking around more. I plateaued during my monthly cycle (TMI, sorry, but someone might find that helpful) and then again this week because I haven't been walking around as much and have been around more foods that are hard to track as we come into the Thanksgiving and Christmas season (cursed yummy food!!). Some say this is too hard to use, but if I stick to simpler ingredients (like grilled chicken and then measure the BBQ sauce etc) or packaged food with a barcode (Mac and cheese, taco kits etc) then it's super easy. For snacks I have like grapes and string cheese. I can't snack much though because I save my calories to have a normal-ish portioned dinner. This has helped me see where I was wasting calories and over/binge eating.
I'm happy with this app.

Moving Forward

I'd had some experience with MyFitnessPal (MFP). On Easter Sunday my wife took a family picture and showed me—within minutes of seeing how I looked at 240lbs I immediately started accessing MFP and updating my profile & goals. Since that moment I've tracked every meal/snack and I've maintained recording my measurements. I'm now down to 200lbs and I'm now (mid-Nov) 10lbs from my January 1 goal of 190lbs—and confident of my attaining it! I've not changed what I eat—only how I eat; and, we've integrated our Apple Health & RunKeeper Apps along with our iWatches. It's been easier than I would have had imagined to accomplish this goal; and, I'm empowered to confidently maintain my weight, too. I'm sleeping better as well. Buying new clothes after losing almost 4" in my waste has been another added bonus! Oh—the best part of it all is my wife is doing the same and realizing the same results—albeit she didn't start at the same weight as I... Her results are the best bonus of all!!!

Updates and Poor Customer Service Have Ruined A Good App

I have loved the My Fitness Pal app and it has helped me achieve my goals. The past three updates have ruined the app. Customer Service treats you like you are having a unique problem when you know it is a wide spread problem with the app and should just say we are aware of the problem and will get update out soon to fix. They have released three updates recently. First update created a problem where the app added deleted exercise calorie data after returning to home screen. The last two updates have promised but failed to fix the problem. Customer service simply tells you to delete the app and reload app but this doesn't fix the problem only wasting your time. I am writing this review with hope that maybe MFP will wake up and realize they have real problem with their app and fix it. I encourage people looking for first calorie counter app to look elsewhere. I have been on MFP for over a year and half, and it is harder to switch when you have saved info. Look for a more reliable app. I am so frustrated with MFP I am contemplating abandoning info I have gathered over the past year and finding a new app.
