From time to time, the Canary auto-mode switching feature may briefly access your GPS in order to have high confidence in your location. Battery life is very important to us and we do many things to ensure we use it sparingly. Please be aware that continued use of GPS services running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
What's New in Version 2.5.0
- Create a mask to exclude zones in your Canary All-in-One's field of view, reducing unwanted notifications and video. Requires v1.4.5 firmware.
- Locations with no devices can now be deleted from within the app.
- Various bug fixes and stability improvements.

Useless as a security system
Don't buy Canary's cameras. Their app is beyond slow and never works when you want it to. Their connection to their servers never works, it's pointless. What would happen if I actually needed to sound the alarm, or access my video? I'm switching back to Nest asap.
Ads and obnoxious upgrade banners
Please allow me to remove EVERYTHING that isn't relevant to viewing the security of my home. Banners for upgrading, insurance offers etc. the app is great but I feel like I'm opening some stupid ad revenue based game. Just make a setting to toggle off all the fluff and leave only what's important and you get a 5 from me.
They deleted my review
Update 6/1: After this new update my Canary went offline 2 times during the night. Also since the new features require an updated firmware I can't use them since mine hasn't updated yet. I just changed one setting and it sent me a notification when nothing happened in front or around the camera. All previous problems I've listed below still have not been fixed. Still 100% regret purchasing this.
Update 5/18: Seriously do not buy any of their products, I've been trying to log in for more than 10 minutes but it wont work just stays on the Authorizing screen. This is the second time this happens. I deleted it because it wouldn't switch off of Private no matter how many times I tried and on all the phones connected to it. It's trash.

So it's a good thing I check often the reviews on this app because coincidentally my bad review got deleted, strange. Long story short, been having problems with the night vision, activity notifications being sent when I press watch live, and probably everything else since February and have been emailing with support since then and STILL NOTHING IS SOLVED! I called support one day to see if I could get abquicker solution but the guy who answered was rude & sounded like he didn't even wanna help and was just mumbling. I got the Canary Flex so if you're thinking about buying this, DONT! I had posted a review with 3 updates and suddenly it's gone, thanks Canary. I completely REGRET buying this thing. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!
