Meet Canvas, the fastest, easiest way to create a scale-accurate 3D model of a home — all from your iPad. We help you "skip ahead to the fun part" on every home improvement project.
Instead of capturing one measurement at a time, Canvas captures thousands per second, and then combines them into a single 3D representation of the space. You can view your 3D model from any angle, measure between any two points, and revisit it any time.
Our Scan To CAD service takes your 3D model one step further: for a small fee per model, you can convert your scans into editable, layered, professional-grade CAD files and jump right into 3D design for your next remodel, DIY project, or redecoration. All your measurements will be built right into the model, including the ones you never thought you’d need. We recommend scanning on a room by room basis, but you can merge your scans into a single model of the entire property.
Scan To CAD will output a .skp, .dwg, and a .dae file from your scans, which can be imported into most major CAD tools like Sketchup, Revit, AutoCAD, and others. From there, you can add objects, make architectural changes, or even create high-quality 3D renders. If you just want to use the scan from Canvas, you can export it easily as a .obj file.
You can see Canvas in action on a real project in this episode of Ask This Old House: https://www.thisoldhouse.com/watch/ask-toh-cedar-planter-3d-scan.
Canvas is the ideal companion app for 3D-savvy architects, interior designers and decorators, design-build firms, general contractors, real estate agents, DIY enthusiasts, and more. Here's what consumers and professionals alike are already saying about Canvas:

"Given that just about every other project starts with as-built modeling, it's easy to see how Canvas can be a game changer." - Mark Harrison, SketchUp
This app requires the Structure Sensor accessory for iPad. If you do not have a Structure Sensor, please visit http://structure.io to learn more about it and other ways you can use Structure Sensor to capture your world in 3D.
Canvas 1.5.4 brings our "3D Scanning Best Practices" tutorial video into the Canvas app. You will now be presented with an option to view this tutorial video when you first download the app, and it will always be available for later review in the "Get Started" section under "Tips: Before Scanning."
If you haven't seen this video before, or it's been awhile since you got started with Canvas, now is a great opportunity to brush up on your scanning skills!

Fantastic Technology and Amazing Customer Support
We have been using Canvas and the Structures Scanner for almost a year now. As a professional designer for a construction company this technology revolutionized our site visits. Our ability to gather data on existing sites across the country with accuracy and consistency is vital to producing client reports, as-built drawings, renovations, and additions.
With the addition of Revit support we now have 3D models complete in days rather than weeks!
We have worked closely with the Canvas Team and are very pleased with their customer support. They feel more like a partner in out projects than a vendor.
From the professional to the home owner, this technology is only limited by the hands that use it.
3D model of my apartment in my pocket
I’ve used Canvas pretty much every time I move somewhere new, to generate a 3D model of my room and usually my whole apartment. I like using the color scans on my iPad, but I also use the merged CAD model of my whole apartment in the SketchUp viewer app on my iPhone. It’s like having a 3D model of where you live, including every possible dimension, at your fingertips at all time.
I’m an interior designer and using Canvas has saved me so much time. I can scan a space in minutes and have a really well built 3D model to design from in a day or two. It saves me from forgetting to measure something small, and it helps me focus on the actual design and not building the 3D model. I think this technology is so exciting and I am on board!
