==== TRAINLINE: THE NEW NAME FOR CAPTAIN TRAIN ====
Back in March 2016, we said hello to Captain Train—our French equivalent—and teamed up with them to build the best online train ticket platform in Europe. Captain Train is now part of the Trainline Group and our team and our mission remain the same: we’re here to make train travel easier and smarter for people in the UK, France and the whole of Europe.

==== TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE? ====
Like many users you may ask yourself how we make money.
It is quite simple. Like any other official travel agent (certified by the SNCF or the Deutsche Bahn) we earn a commission for each ticket sold. There is no additional fee for our clients because our prices are aligned with the rail operator’s fares.

What's New in Version 35
TLDR: We're no longer supporting iOS 7 & 8, squashed bugs and have a few technical numbers to share with you.
We have nothing too out of this world to give you to nibble on this time. This update fully assumes being all about buckling down to pave the way for the next releases, and carefully and lovingly taking care of the body, just like you would to restore a collectible car. Since we know how much you love beautiful cars, we decided this was the perfect occasion to reveal some of her inner workings.
From this version of the app on, iOS 7 and iOS 8 will no longer be supported. We know, this is rough news to learn. But it's better for your eyes to read about this here in the patch notes than to hear it from someone close. You probably have lots of questions to be able to process your grief. Please go ahead and fire away.
The thing is, iOS versions behave very differently from one version to another. This forces the developers to design, develop and test each feature in every version. It's a tad time-consuming, as you can imagine. And we'd much rather be spending our time developing new features for you than doing this.
DO YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC EXAMPLE TO GIVE?
The Aztec Codes. No, this has nothing to do with the civilization (and its charming pantheon of gods, starting with Mictlantecuhtli). We're talking about the sweet name given to the very specific format of the barcodes you show a train ticket agent. With iOS7, we had to generate these barcodes by adding bits of code to our app. Since iOS8, Apple has integrated this generation tool directly in iOS, which allows us to shave a few pounds off the app, limit the number of bugs we have... and save time.
OK, IOS 7, I CAN DEAL WITH.... BUT IOS 8?
All devices that support iOS 8 can upgrade to iOS 9. You have no more excuses to keep lagging behind! In practice, only the iPhone 4 is affected by this change.
HANG ON! DO YOU MEAN I WON'T BE ABLE TO USE TRAINLINE WITH MY IPHONE 4 ANYMORE?
Relax. The Trainline App (version 34) will still work on your iPhone 4. We'll keep supporting it for as long as we can, but you will no longer see any new updates for it.
WHILE WE’RE AT IT, I HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD REASON TO BE NO LONGER SUPPORTING IOS 6
About that. We've been meaning to talk to you. When we launched the project to create an iOS app in September 2012, iOS 6 was on the cusp of being released. A year and 2 months later, the version 1.0 of our iOS app was launched, right after iOS 7 was released. At the time, we had decided to first make the app compatible with both versions of iOS, before deciding we'd focus on the most recent version of iOS.
DUDE, SERIOUSLY, THIS PATCH NOTE ISN'T EVEN FUNNY. YOU GUYS HAVE CHANGED.
Come on; it's not because we changed t-shirts that we've become an entirely different person. Instead of waiting for spring to come, the app's hardcore developers took advantage of fall to spring a major cleaning session. It, therefore, made sense to let them do the talking, for once. And since they were eager to impress you, they even gave us a few numbers to share with you:
61838 lines of code for the app, and an extra 32833, just for the tests.
Only 7.6 tiny MBs on your device
37 versions in 2 years and 1 month. Talk about being regular.
10 keynotes passionately watched. With popcorn and non-alcoholic beverages.
3 persons dedicated to the app, full time. And room for more, if you're game: https://www.trainline.eu/jobs
My favorite app for European trains!
Great app that has an excellent translation feature, so there's no misunderstanding when buying tickets in English. Finding your station is very simple compared to other sites I've used. Thanks for making train tickets easy to buy!
Does NOT cover all of Europe!
No schedules from Hungary, so Trainline Europe is a misrepresentation. Have not checked all of the other European countries yet to see if they are all included in timetables.
