Ratings and Reviews
Nice voice selection, clumsy interface
The app has a great selection of voices. Unfortunately, it makes you jump through hoops just to do the simple thing you want it to do – read your text to you. To read text on your clipboard, for example, you must tap the + to create a new Playlist entry and paste in the text. Unfortunately, it doesn’t use the first line of your text as the title of the entry – it just says “clipboard” and the date. So, you must title the entry yourself. After you save the entry, finally you can have it read to you. If you only want to listen to it once, however, you must then delete the entry or it will clutter up your playlist. If you forget to name the entry, you can apparently not do so after the fact. On the plus side, It does have the nice ability to read several stories in succession, Project Gutenberg support and other useful features.
Everyone should have this app
I’ve been using Capti for more than a year. It is very easy to use, you can just add articles/web content directly from chrome to your playlist. Also you can add any article from Safari on iphone to your playlist with the share button. Then they all wait in your playlist as voice clips! One recommendation is to add functionality (iphone, and chrome addon) to add selected text as a separate clip.
I've only recently discovered text to speech software's. This app makes it easy to read PDF files on the go. Sometimes I want to review a document before going into a meeting and I can do it discreetly using my phone. I i've noticed the increase in comprehension utilizing text to speech. I have yet to explore the notetaking features. I would recommend trying the software for anyone who feels reading is a little more challenging for them.
