Ratings and Reviews
Operation slow, needs scanner
The APP is basically a good one, especially for diabetics but it takes too long to download items -- when you consider that it's not coming from the Internet. Then when it's finally loaded, if what you want is not listed you have to wait again while it gives you the next 25, and then the next 25, and so-on. You have to go through this procedure about 6 times to get items from McDonalds, and that's only in the middle of the alphabet. It seemingly takes forever.
Another thing is that it needs a scanner. If what you want is not listed with the millions of choices, it's time consuming and inconvenient to enter in. If a product could be scanned in and an Internet search occurred, data could be input directly from the manufacturer's web site.
Lastly, home-made and most restaurant items are impossible, so much so that I try to stay away from them. Take meatloaf, for example. If it wasn't purchased pre-made in a grocery store, you'll take an hour to figure out ratings for all the ingredients and enter them in -- the ground meat, eggs, breadcrumbs etc. This is not an exact science and an average listing could be included for home-made/scratch-made items.
I know this sounds like a lot, but these things could make a really good APP perfect.
I just got this app about a week or so ago. I'm really liking it. I have to get a scale to start weighing myself. I was just diagnosed with Type II diabetes and am starting to track stuff. I really like the app and it has even more potential. I like the carb counter alert on the icon. I have a suggestion to the author. On the water tab, if you have specified your standard water amount (I have a 16oz bottle I use) then why not make it so when you touch a glass, it turns full. Without having to click the plus icon? It could default to the date/time stamp of 'now'. That would be convenient. It's really helping me learn about carbs and how they affect my blood sugar. As I learn more about carbs and diabetes, this app centralizes that for me. Thank you.
good carb-counting tool
Excellent for those on Atkins, since it seems to calculate Net Carbs instead of just overall carbs. I've been using it for months now and, of all the carb tracking apps I've tried, this one seems to be the best. That said, it does have its own set of flaws, such as low-resolution photo icons of any custom-made entries in the food list. The water entry-method also could be better and it even seems buggy when entering water consumed, as the date & time always show the same throughout the day and must be changed manually.
Besides these relatively small complaints, which only cost this review one star, I think the app has good potential and is worth checking out for anyone watching their carb intake.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
