Everything we do has an effect on the planet. Research shows that we’re causing devastating damage to the planet by releasing extravagant amounts of CO2 gas into the atmosphere. The only way to jump-start the solution is to take matters into your own hands.

Carbon is a good start! Our aim is to inform and inspire people to minimize the carbon emissions caused by their energy use. You might not see it, but thousands of pounds of CO2 are being released into the air when you use energy in your home, or drive your car to work every day.

Our algorithm asks you some questions about your energy lifestyle and gives you a unique Carbon Score.
It determines which power plants your energy comes from and identifies how much CO2 they produce.
It also knows how much CO2 your car produces, so it tallies those up to give you a good idea of how much CO2 your energy use produces.

You can share your Carbon score with your Facebook friends to see how you rank amongst your peers.
Challenge yourself to get as close to zero carbon emissions as possible.

You can always recalculate your score after you’ve made significant changes to your lifestyle. Your Carbon Score will change significantly if you lower your electricity consumption, move to a different house, add solar panels to your home, switch to an electric/hybrid car, or start using public transport more often!

We have a lot more features coming soon so stay tuned :)

What's New

Version 1.1.1

Some small fixes for iOS 11.

Thanks everyone for the feedback you've been sending us! All your ideas are being logged and we'll try to implement as many as we can in V2 :)

Measuring one's carbon footprint is not an easy task. There are hundreds of factors that need to be measured right. For now, our focus is energy use. What do you think our next focus should be?

Good idea ; need more data

FX Bergen

I like concept but you miss huge contributions to footprint. Plane trips per year; total spend etc. Then what is average and what can be done to change

Developer Response

Hey FX Bergen! We hear you loud and clear! Carbon is still in its infancy. We chose to first focus on the carbon footprint arising from your personal energy use. We're working on an in-depth carbon footprint model for the future!

Huge oversights

The quiz is dismally short and misses factors like food choices, food sources, levels of participation in consumerism, type of house (beyond just house and apartment) travel frequency and method, the list goes on and on and on.

Developer Response

Hey Farkler! Appreciate the feedback! We're working on a more in-depth footprint analysis for Carbon. If you have any other ideas for what to include, please email me directly at pablo@sprightful.com.

Excited for future updates

Love what this app is trying to convey! Gave me an idea of my carbon emissions in just a couple clicks. I had some trouble getting the slider for my electricity bill to work but I pressed down on it a bit longer and it worked.

Developer Response

Thanks for trying out Carbon! We'll keep updating the app with more features so stay tuned :)
