Easiest car buying purchase of my life.
I was hesitant at first to purchase a vehicle through an app, but figured I would give it a go. The app is extremely simple to use, and walks you through the entire build process. I was set on purchasing an XC40 through my local dealer (Steingold Volvo Cars in RI - they’re fantastic!), but decided to try the Care By Volvo option so I can upgrade a bit sooner. Volvo Corp was extremely responsive and kept me in touch during the entire build process. The vehicle has since arrived at my favorite dealer Steingold Volvo, paperwork was finalized in two minutes, and I’m proudly driving my XC40 that I LITERALLY BOUGHT ONLINE! Haha, it’s an amazing world we live in, and I’m very pleased with the process. Even my Liberty Mutual Insurance was setup through the app, and I’m good to go. Trust me - coming from an at first hesitant buyer, this option was a breeze. Bravo, Volvo! Bravo!!
Care by Volvo is a Nightmare
Care by Volvo is a nightmarish hellscape of broken promises, worthless ‘concierge’ agents, unanswered questions, and utter disarray.
If you were thinking this might be a good way to buy a Volvo, it isn’t. Run the other way. If you have a friend, a loved one, a coworker, or overhear a random stranger who’s thinking about enrolling in care by Volvo, be a good Samaritan and stop them.
I buy a lot of cars, and I’ve never (EVER) endured such a painful experience. The concierge team is incompetent and they never have the answers to your questions. They’re impossible to contact via telephone and never reply to emails. They reliably and systematically fail to process the documents they ask you for, and they make delivery date promises that they miss again and again and again. I understand that they’re pushing the boundaries of car ownership models, but they aren’t doing it well.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME
I had high hopes for this service as Volvo’s are great cars, and subscription programs seem to be the way of the future. I ordered my car at the beginning of March, and they said it would be delivered at the end of April. April came and passed and they pushed it off into May. Halfway through May they told me it would be delivered by June 10th. I emailed them yesterday and they said now that it is delayed again for another few months with no specific date confirmed. I unfortunately had to cancel my subscription due to this reason. The worst part about it is that I only found out about each delay after emailing them asking the status of my vehicle. They never once reached out to me and told me the vehicle is being delayed. Volvo, I hope you get your $#/% together.
