Question: An expansion seems gone after an update or reinstallation of Catan or after restoring the device?
Answer: Don’t worry, your initial purchase is already saved in your iTunes account. You can restore your InApp purchases by selecting the restore-option in the Catan IAP menu.
Question: I lost my campaign progress after reinstalling, updating or restoring my device. Is there any way to restore it?
Answer: When saved games can’t be automatically restored, we’ve integrated a cheat code: In the campaign mode go to select player and enter "CatanWarp*" (* = 1–15) as your player name and confirm. Exit the game via the home button and restart it. The campaign can now be continued from the specified level number (1–15). Levels up to the specified number will be unlocked in the custom game mode as well.
Question: Are dice rolls really random?
Answer: Of course! All dice rolls are 100% random and not modified in any way. We’re avid Catan players ourselves. We’ve played the iOS version hundreds of times while developing the program. There have been times when we won and lost a few games in a row because of the dice - just like when playing the board game!

What's New in Version 4.6.1

- Fixed a bug that could cause the game to crash or the AI to move ships irregular after the AI obtains a specific treasure.
Love the app, but...
Years back, I was on a cruise and another person on the trip recommended the game to me. I decided to try the IOS app first to see if I liked it. I enjoyed it so much I ended up getting all the expansions in the app. I do like the islands expansion, but wish it had a preview of the maps like other maps do. Also it would be nice to add 2 player support.
When I tried to play a pass and play game, it got annoying trying to trade resources with people. So I ended up buying the actual Catan board game with the Seafarers, Cities & Knights, and Traders & Barbarians expansions with their 5-6p extensions since I have a large family. Even so, I still like to play by myself against the AI opponents in the app itself.
One thing I wish is that you didn't have to get two different versions for the iPhone and iPad. I wish the developers could take a look at what ticket to ride did and make it an in-app-purchase to play on both devices. I own the iPad HD version, would like to play on my iPhone, but I will not repurchase the game and all it's expansions just to do that. I would pay $1-$2 to allow the app to run on both devices, but I'm not going to pay another $19 to play on my iPhone.
The game also glitches out several times making buying things or using development cards difficult.
Great Game Terrible App
I am a Catan Nut and still, have spent $20 on this terrible app because I love the game. The "random" dice rolls are so obviously biased that I can nearly count on doing well in the beginning of a game, poorly in the middle, and having a comeback in the end, rolling what ever number the robber has just been place on my hex, or when I get exactly the resources I need and I roll a seven. Its a sad way to develop the computers AI but it's almost like they didn't try to hide it. I thought multiplayer would get rid of that problem but the online version is so slow and clunky that I often get distracted and start reading in between rolls. One thing that's definitely missing is chat between players. Instead there's just an emoticon. OMG please fix the problem with not being able to move the pirate!
So Many Glitches
I love Catan, and the game preserves the greatness of the board game. Though online, with iPad, one can expect the game to crash once. As in know that is going to happen. When it does there's I'd say a 20% chance you will be booted from the game, for no just cause. This has happened more than a few times at the exciting denouement of a tight and thrilling game. The matchmaking is quite bad as well. If, like I, you wish to play only certain game types the process of finding the right players can be grueling and time consuming. There is an option to prefer certain game types in matchmaking but there truly seems to be no positive result from that feature. But the constant, constant crashing is a major issue.
