True to the original game, you can compete with up to four players for the most settlements, the longest roads and the largest army. You can trade with each other and claim the precious land with all its resources.
Challenge other Catan fans online via cross-platform multiplayer to prove your strategy skills or play against the AI:
Various computer opponents, each with their own individual characteristics, will prove themselves worthy competitors: the pirate Jean, who knows no compromise, Vincent the merchant, who never allows himself to be cheated, Sean the knight, who takes what is rightfully his...
The popular Catan expansions "Seafarers", "Cities and Knights" and two new special scenarios are available as In-App purchases.

Question: An expansion seems gone after an update or reinstallation of Catan or after restoring the device?
Answer: Don’t worry, your initial purchase is already saved in your iTunes account. You can restore your InApp purchases by selecting the restore-option in the Catan IAP menu.
Question: I lost my campaign progress after reinstalling, updating or restoring my device. Is there any way to restore it?
Answer: When saved games can’t be automatically restored, we’ve integrated a cheat code: In the campaign mode go to select player and enter "CatanWarp*" (* = 1–15) as your player name and confirm. Exit the game via the home button and restart it. The campaign can now be continued from the specified level number (1–15). Levels up to the specified number will be unlocked in the custom game mode as well.
Question: Are dice rolls really random?
Answer: Of course! All dice rolls are 100% random and not modified in any way. We’re avid Catan players ourselves. We’ve played the iOS version hundreds of times while developing the program. There have been times when we won and lost a few games in a row because of the dice - just like when playing the board game!

What's New in Version 4.6.2
- Fixed some edge case bugs with 'brawn before brains' achievement
- Fixes and optimizations regarding game almanac
- Various smaller tweaks, bugfixes and optimizations
There are a few glitches, really big glitches that make some of the scenarios frustrating. For instance...sometimes the toolbar completely disappears when you play a progress card. And pretty much 100% of the time it will crash after finishing a game and you start a new one. Either of those situations forces a reboot of the game. If they'd fix those, it would be great. Overall though, it's a very good port of the game, and still well worth playing even with all the issues.
As for the dice randomness bias complaints: I have not seen this. The die roll the same throughout the game. However, what does happen is the game naturally gets way more aggressive towards the end, even IRL. Opponents have more progress cards and they gang up on you. They get seriously cut-throat towards anyone who's either leading or within a few points of victory. The AI performs this very well. I think that everyone crying about dice bias needs to stop sniveling and get competitive when the game gets tough. The only weird AI flaw that doesn't reflect a real life game is... If the AI is winning and they're within a few points of victory, the other AI opponents will still trade with them. In my experience playing IRL, this nearly never happens. Nobody in their right mind will help another player win the game.
Exercise in frustration, terrible dice randomization
I am an avid fan of the board game and have played online versions. Was really excited to get this app, but after playing dozens of games for two days, it's just not fun because the 7 comes up with nearly every round. It takes forever to build anything. I am still winning a fair amount of times, but it's ridiculous to have 7 come up this frequently. More than a few times I've had to wait 4-5 turns to buy a single item, even though I have plenty of good spots (6,8,9,10,5) because my resources are stolen two turns in a row because both AI opponents roll sevens, sometimes twice in a row. Programming a random dice roll should not be this hard! There are plenty of stand alone apps that do this. I am using the most current app too. ( my son told me the prior version had poor reviews, but I was hoping upgrading would fix the problem). It's too bad because it is otherwise a very nice game with good instructions. If dice randomization were fixed would easily be one of my favorites.
Very bad, don't waste your money!
I don't see why this euro game is so popular. Its just that these euro games get branded as elitist. Give me Yahtzee any day. It's basically a craps game, playing the odds. I don't like gambling, too hard to win. You have to pick your initial settlement wisely with numbers that have a higher probability of being thrown like 5,6,8, 9 as a last option. I've been in one game where 3 was never thrown, grant it I had two settlements there and it was against the computer AI players. And anytime I had a good amount of resources built up, some monopoly card or robber would take everything. The robber would sit on my tile/ settlements forever, while the other players would never have the robber for more than one roll. Anytime I bought a development card I would only get the half useless knight card. The AI would players would get the victory or the cards giving two roads or two resources. I have the board game, but don't have anyone that will play it. I'll probably resell it since I hate this game with a passion from my experience with this app. Basically I never have a chance with this crummy gambling game.
