Too many adds for a paid subscription
I subscribed to content on the CBS app so that I could watch the Emmy's last night. I planned on taking advantage of the free trial to see if I would want to keep the subscription.
When I watched the Emmy's live last night the # of commercials was ok, but when I watched on the app today for about 30 minutes, I probably spent about 70% of that time watching commercials. For free content, this might be acceptable (although it was pretty unwatchable to spend 20+ min watching the same 2 commercials), but for $5.99/month that's pretty unacceptable. For a little more per month I can watch Netflix, which has zero commercials and way more content.
I cancelled my trial today in advance of the end of the 7 days because I don't plan to spend the next 6 days watching commercials.
2.5 stars. I've gone a long time without watching CBS because it bugged me to have to pay for network TV. Decided to give it a try. I am enjoying some of the shows but I do not think it's worth $9.99 (no commercials) every month. Offer shows for free with commercials and then charge $5.99 per month for those of us who don't want commercials. That is more realistic. The app is somewhat glitchy, does not remember how to resume a show, and sometimes freezes all together. Not in love. Will most likely cancel after this month.
Still a mess
I'm paying for the ad-free version so I can watch Colbert without going crazy. Of course, that doesn't stop CBS from using ads in the app itself. Annoying, and maybe a bit dishonest since they're easy to click by accident. It is also really difficult to navigate any show or clips list with more than a handful of entries because you has to scroll horizontally and the app can't remember your place if you take a look at something.
