This app is designed to help you find fluorescent dyes, reagents and protocols for cell biology related fluorescence microscopy applications.
Molecular Probes app is great for:
•Selecting science protocols for labeling organelles and cellular structures such as: Golgi, mitochondria, nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, plasma membrane, actin, tubulin, peroxisomes, autophagasomes, endosomes and lysosomes without Spectraviewer.
•Finding Alexa Fluor® labeled mouse, goat and rabbit secondary antibodies for immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry applications on Zeiss, Leica, Olympus and Nikon microscope systems.
•Choosing calcium ion indicators, cell health assays, fluorophores and pH dyes for neuroscience, neurobiology and cancer research.
•Discovering which Invitrogen, Gibco or Ambion cell health, cell culture, or reactive dye kits are best for benchtop cytometry, tissue staining, or biotin streptavidin conjugation for microscopic labeling and detection.
•Remote access to troubleshoot issues of: photobleaching, background fluorescence, and autofluorescence using signal enhancers, signal amplification, phalloidin conjugates, and click chemistry.

Pretty good, aside from the fact its not made for Mac

Well, it seems to be very informative, but the only thing I have to say fails in this app is the design. Come to think of it, this is probably an iPad/iPhone app released on the Mac platform. This app is made for touch, not the input that computers use. For example, to move through pictures, you have to physically click the picture and drag it so that the new picture is visible. What about if you want to scroll through the bottom menu bar? Use scroll wheel? No. Use scroll bar? Nope. The menu has to be clicked and dragged to move through it. But still, pretty neat app for finding some things you need.

Good for selection and protocol information

The app is great for quick reference and selection. I agree with the other review. It wasn’t build for clicking around. Still overall a good app for researchers though.
