• See the number of tests completed by location and operator.
• Compare your network’s true performance against other networks with interactive call performance and data speed maps.
• Comprehensive speed test for download and upload throughput
• Report dropped calls, poor signal strength, and slow data issues.
• Choose whether you want to do a single test at a time or set the app to do continuous testing.
100% FREE. No annoying advertisements or in-app purchases.

Crowdsourced results contributed by users of our app have been a valuable part of our mobile performance CoverageMap. Apple’s recent release of iOS 8.3, however, has altered our ability to access and display your test results.

The release of version 2.4.4 of the app fixes the issue preventing Data Speed test results from properly displaying on the map. We’re still working to correct the remaining issues preventing display of Call Performance and Network Technology results on the map.

We appreciate your patience while we get things sorted.

Mixed Bag

The most recent release does not accurately record call quality. Particularly for networks like Sprint which uses an eCSFB handover to bridge it's LTE (data) bands and its calling network (CDMA 1x). The app inaccurately records the LTE signal strength (which has a far less reach in terms of coverage regardless of band class and carrier) and labels it as call quality on the hexes. The nice thing about the old version was that you were able to map just the call quality (by shutting off LTE on your device, this also applies to VZW, T-Mo, and AT&T). It also had minimal impact on the data plan. Sprints call quality map is inaccurate on root metrics because of this issue. It reaches greater distances, and penetrates walls a lot better (CDMA 800) than this app reports. Please bring back the call quality measurement function.

Update: the new version that has "bug fixes and updates for iOS 9" no longer reports properly. You can't see the results of your tests on the map anymore. Rootmetrics what is going on?

Still no fixes, no settings, ...

The developers just don't get it. Showing only the fastest recorded speed is idiotic, because one single best result throws off the whole representation. At a minimum it should show the median value, with then the option to show / toggle to best & worst.
Still dislike the redesign and unneeded color changes.
Where is the toggle to only test network? Cant turn data off?!
Still lacks preferences to only test when NOT on LTE. Im happy to help map the state (tons of no signal up to two bars of 3g) and poor coverage areas, but absolutely not when it blows through 25mb or more every 30secs when I pass an LTE tower. I want LTE voice signal and 3G data only. Or if it sees LTE that it just waits till LTE is gone. How about a timer to only test every n minutes? Vs back to back as fast as possible. Other ideas and feedback? See whats been posted by myself and others in the past, as well as emailed.

Broken for months

Still broken - even with their "bug fixes for iOS 9" it still won't test...
This app has been broken since iOS 8.3 came out around 4 months ago. It won't test cell signal. Root Metrics has not fixed it, and their last info about it came in May. They blame Apple which makes no sense because OpenSignal and Sensorly both work fine. Since you can't actually test cell signal this app is effectively useless.
