What's New in Version 2.7
Now fully iOS7-ized! Our crackerjack dev team has dramatically improved performance and stability, and enhanced the UI to complement Apple's flat design.
This new release, short on the heels of v2.6, contains further UI enhancements.
I like this app so much that this is one of the very few I've paid for and the only one I've reviewed. But it asked when I opened it, and maybe it's just the wine writing, but I decided to go ahead and do it.
And here's the thing: I don't really think it deserves five stars, if only because it's not perfect. I've lost script revisions due to syncing issues with my computer. It needs a few more features that the desktop version has. And worst of all, it started Capitalizing every time I start bring up the keyboard again, even when it's not at the beginning of a sentence; which isn't how anything else works on my iPad. And that frustrates me, as I hate weird Capitalizations.
Thus said, I don't even use the desktop version anymore, and now type all my scripts on my iPad. Sure, I can't type as fast, but I use my iPad as much as I can for anything that works better that way, and that definitely goes for this app. I love the ease of taking it anywhere I want to be, including pacing around my house drunk while fine tuning my screenplays late at night...like I'm about to do right as soon as I finish typing this. And if they'd go ahead and fix a few issues, including the weird Capitalizing thing, I would pay for it all over again (but don't tell them that.) Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a screenplay to write.
Buggy, but Nice
After purchasing this software for iPhone, I was blown away by the simplicity with which I quickly created a draft of a short script for a promotional video. I enjoyed how it Auto-Saved, but have not had a chance to check the syncing with my other iOS devices. However, the application does crash more than it should and some graphics are not as clean and crisp as I would expect. Features like a simple cancel button on the colored notes seems to be missing as well. I hope they will continue to update the app as the simplicity is incredible!
I bought an iPad so that I could work away from home and use celtx on my iPad. It's 2014 right? This is possible, right? Wrong! You can't even save your project in the app. Your latest draft doesn't even save to the site nor does it go through iCloud! I checked my computer, checked the site. Old drafts. I check my app on my iPad, it's there. All my hard revisions. I try to save, CANNOT. All I can do it press the little cloud button in hopes that that saves it and my revisions transfer to my computer or the website. WRONG! Instead your magical script disappears and is replaced with your old outdated version from the website that you can't save to. No way to get it back. No save button. This is crazy ridiculous Celtx. NEVER USING YOU AGAIN!
