Great for organizing my home

As some of the reviewers have experienced, I too had seen the “Coming Soon” icon. That is when I figured out that you have to crop and edit the nameplate photo. Once I did that the information appeared the next day. Even my 15 year plus dishwasher manual was found and listed! So crop those nameplate photos and you too will start enjoying this app.

The only negative I have with the app is the initial setup where you have to provide your home address. Call me paranoid, but that’s like leading the wolf to the hen house. Giving a would be thief an inventory of all your possessions. To remedy that I provided just a general location which worked fine.

Not ready for primetime

It’s been almost 6 weeks since this app’s exposure on the premiere episode of Ask This Old House, and still 3 out of 4 of the appliances I’ve uploaded have yet to be identified at all. The Whirlpool dryer that I uploaded was partially identified, however the instruction manuals supplied are for an IKEA dishwasher.

The owners of this app appear to be quite responsive and are trying to set the expectations of what appears to be millions of new users, however I don’t understand why they didn’t anticipate the popularity of their service based upon its exposure on the most popular DIY TV show around.

And, oh how I wish you could actually manage your appliances on their website instead of an app. I really want to like this app and I sure hope gets better. Otherwise, it’s useless.

Developer Response

Hey there! Thanks for your fair and balanced review. We greatly appreciate it. We are getting all caught up on everything, and while I agree we should have been more prepared for the exposure, we also didn't expect it to be quite as massive as it was.

In regards to an online version - that is definitely in the works and should be available sometime in early January! In the meantime, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions to support@centriqhome.com.

Lovely app, does what it says on the tin

I downloaded Centriq a few months ago and it does what it says - taking a photo of a nameplate leads to your owner’s manual, install guide, sometimes even videos from the manufacturer about how to do things like change a tricky-to-maneuver filter or clean some part of your appliance.
The thing that really won my loyalty, though, was when I got an email telling me that a blade on my Cuisinart food processor had been recalled. I would never have thought to check on that on my own, but thanks to Centriq I have the replacement part instead of one that might have broken apart and put metal shards in my family’s food.
