What's New in Version 1.3.3
Best WMC App out there!
This is by far the best media center app out there. I not only use it at home but also from work and on trips all the time to schedule shows to be recorded. I love that I can browse the guide, get info on shows, even select a show and then play it to any of the TVs at home, all from my iPhone. The season premier feature is way cool, especially now that the fall shows are all starting soon. I don’t have a ton of ripped movies but I’ll probably add a lot more since those are all supported with this app as well. We have a mixed house of Apple and other phones and tablets and I love that there’s a version of this for all the platforms.
So much potential. No more updates?
It works great for managing recordings, but there was talk of new features. Over a year ago, Ceton hyped up a "major" release. Instead it was just a rebrand in an attempt to get more app purchases, including a release for windows 8. (Does anyone use windows 8?) Since then there has been no progress. No updates, no changes. The app still looks like it was made for iOS 5. Most developers will at least update the look and feel to match the latest os. Users that spent $5 (a lot for an iOS app) are instead left with a dated looking app that hasn't been updated since April 2013. There is still no ability to watch recorded tv in the app (airplay/chromecast would also be nice if there ever was an ability to watch), aliases for different tuners, and what is the point of a "movie library" of you can't do anything with it?
Great App, few updates needed
Overall, I love this app. It makes it very convenient to remotely control my media center no matter which extender I'm using, but renaming the extenders is a needed update. Also love the ability to remotely schedule recordings. The remote control feature needs to allow for a resume option. Any show you select with the App always starts from the beginning. Starting a show this way also causes issues on the Xbox, where the Xbox will idle after 10 minutes and dim the screen in the middle of the show. Overall, these are small annoyances, and I love the capabilities the app provides. 5 stars once it is fine-tuned.
