Solid idea, terrible tech

I’d give the service itself 4 stars, I’d give the app zero. So I averaged that out to 2 stars.

Service: Works great for SF commuters and is a welcome alternative to public transit, where even standing room is a rare commodity during rush hour. The shuttles get you where you’re going quickly and comfortably, and it’s nice having a quiet, stress-free commute, especially in the AM. My only complaint: my morning route doesn’t have enough chariots in circulation, so they fill up within seconds of becoming available. They need to analyze demand and add shuttles where necessary.

App: Riddled with bugs and a UI that sometimes chooses to just stop working altogether. Some mornings the app just refuses to function at all. Sometimes it remembers your addresses, sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes a chariot that is clearly arriving now will appear onscreen as “10-12 minutes away.” The bugs are so pervasive that they have caused me to miss my chariot and screw up my commute on more than one occasion.

I hope they continue to expand and improve, but it’s time for them to rebuild their app. They’ve had more than enough time to address the issues I see on a daily basis.

Can't book a ride

Scary Luu

Every time I open the app in the past two weeks I am asked to log in, type in my starting address and my destination just to see the same animation about how my commute is being solved. Please don't show this every time I launch the app. Makes sense to show it to New users but I've been using chariot for over a year- I open the app when I'm trying to grab the next possible ride.

After that animation I am brought to the map screen where I have to type in my starting location destination again (even though I just provided it) and I get an endless loading message that says "Finding Chariots" for over five minutes and then it times out and I have to try again.

Had to give up and use Lyft to get to work. Very frustrating.

Crashy and cannot log in

Last week I was logged into the app. The app has been sluggish and crashy since I started using the app. This morning I tried to book my ride to work and the app presents some promotion for some Enterprise program which is dismissed immediately and then the app crashed. Great promotion! I restarted the app and was not logged in anymore. I tried to log in but there’s no password stored for Chariot in my keychain. This means I could not log in. Instead I took the Caltrain. Since these bugs don’t seem to be going away I will stick with Caltrain. If I cannot book a ride I cannot use Chariot. It’s that simple.
