Just what I needed

I’m not particularly interested in verifying files downloaded from the web, rather I’m interested in verifying that files I’ve copied to my NAS for archiving have been copied correctly. Given that slightly less common usage, I was thrilled that this very simple piece of software accomplishes the task wonderfully. Just drop one file in there, cut and paste from the actual checksum to the reported checksum, and drop in the copied file. Boom.

Ok, one thing on this wishlist - wait for it - would be awesome to have a swap button so I could click to swap the checksums from actual to reported so I didn’t have to cut and paste… :-). But for most people, in the main use case, might end up being slightly confusing.

Exactly what I was looking for

Does exactly what I needed and wanted. Gives me a place to paste in the valid checksum from the web page I’m downloading from, let’s me pick the hash type then drag and drop the file, or open the downloaded file. As soon as the file is dropped or opened, it computes the checksum and if they match you get a big green arrow.

Green means go! Simplicity itself. I’m not sure why so many other utilities make this more complicated than it should be. The built in compare is really, really nice. Highly recommended!
