Chicago Bikes — A One-Tap Divvy Bike App
By Urban Apps
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Chicago Bikes is a simple and easy-to-use App that helps you locate the closest Divvy Bike℠ docking station. With one tap you can find the closest Divvy Bike station, how far away it is and in which direction, and how many available bikes and docks it currently has.
Find out how many available docks there are at your destination easily with the full-map mode. You can even set a ride timer to help track your Divvy Bike rental and prevent late fees.

What's New in Version 1.4
◊ Fixed the compass calibration bug that caused the app to show it more frequently than necessary.
◊ Minor bug fixes and optimizations
Review the app, not Divvy
Ignore the low ratings posted here as they are for Divvy and not this app, which is great. Love the design and ease of use. You can do it one-handed while coasting on your bike.
Yes, Divvy can be confusing for the uninitiated who are trying to just rent and go. If you're not a monthly Divvy subscriber with a Divvy key fob, you have do have to take some time to read instructions and pay for your bike...about as much time as it takes to use the new parking kiosks on Chicago streets. I think the 30 min rent time is actually fine since no bike station is more than a 10 min ride away.
This app is extremely useful for all Divvy Users - tourists, occasional riders, and avid users. A timer is available so you know how long you can ride. I especially like the feature that shows how many docks/bikes are available at a station since I've been burned many times. Best of all, this app is free.
However, I am only giving this app 4 stars because it can use your location at all times. I highly suggest developers considering allowing users to allow location services only while the app is in use.
Do not use this service. The kiosks are overcomplicated to use and the 24 hour pass is very misleading. 24 hours = $7???? That's what I thought until I checked my bank statement and was charged an outrageous $54. I can rent a car cheaper then that! I mean c'mon. And seriously how far can you travel in 30 minutes when your waiting over 15 for the others in the party to rent their bikes. Will not be using this service again. Two stars because the bikes were easy to ride and were comfortable.
