A "reasonable" online reading experience

What the Trib has done here is a compromise between an optimal online reading experience and an analog context overlay. So it has a familiar appearance to those who are more comfortable flipping physical pages -and- allows a purely digital experience, just not both at the same time. The "analogues" may pinch-and-zoom while the "digitals" may tap an article and have it rendered the same as on the e-edition, as a complete scrollable article, not separated by page breaks. I found it to be a satisfying experience and will continue to use it. Is there a better way to present the newspaper? Probably. Trib developers please study apps that others use such as the New York Times and the WSJ.

The online e-edition is SOOO much better!

I recently subscribed to the Tribune's digital only service. I have loved the ease of use when reading it in safari, the features, the full page view, etc. I was excited to learn that they offered this app, thinking it would be the same sort of thing. I was wrong. The app and its zoom feature is not great. The look of it is like looking at a real 2 page at a time newspaper...you have to zoom in on everything because the print is so small...which gets annoying when it is an article you'd normally skip. To get it into a more readable view, you need to zoom and then double click the article.

Skip the app and use the online reader... You will not regret it.

Too Sluggish loading

I love reading the Trib on my iPad and would consider dropping my print edition home delivery if my wife felt the same way (she prefers the hard copy). I've been reading the web based digital edition and just noticed that there was now an app and was excited to try it. Overall, I found it was to sluggish with the pages taking was too long to "get clear". For now I'll stick to the web based app which is much faster but I'm hopefully the iPad app will improve and I'll be checking it from time to time.

In any event, I appreciate the Trib's work in developing their electronic edition!!
