A Move Backwards

macktrx by steve

This is not the experience the Tribune wants electronic readers (that is the future of the Tribune and all media) to experience.
Disbanding the support of the app the Tribune had built seems to be a 180 degree move backwards.
Reading the newspaper, on iPad and similar devices, was easy and a similar experience to reading the physical paper. Moving from section to section was intuitive. We did have a few suggestions to improve the experience (allowing printing of an article, include the iPad clock at the top) but this change which forces the reader to leave the app is a demonstration that electronic readers are not important. A shame in this day of failing print.
Perhaps someone at the decision level can get this corrected and back on track quickly!

Trib--Listen To Your Customers

I'm surprised that Trib has been so oblivious to unanimity of dissatisfaction. There are 175 reviews listed. BUT -- about 40-50 are reviews of the discontinued app, many from 2015, most of which are positive. The reviews of the NEW app include just one positive review (someone from Florida who was shocked he/she could actually get home news on the internet), and the remainder extremely negative. The consensus is pretty amazing. Not one customer happy about the disorganized newsfeed feel, the utter disorganization of articles and columns, the anonymous listing of articles -- (you don't know the author until you open the article), the inability to quickly locate favorite columnists, etc..

Trib, please, listen to your customers.

Backward Progress

The old version was the best in the business – you were literally reading an image of the newspaper on your iPad. It looked no different than the edition that you would buy the news stand. You could read all of the stories, they appeared in only one section and they all changed every day just like the real newspaper - because it was! In the new version you see the same stories across the various sections and sometimes they sit out there for days weeks or even months. In addition you don't get to see every story that's in the paper addition. This app is a tremendous step backwards!
