Chicago Works 311 - Report Potholes and Graffiti

By 2pensmedia Inc.

This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.

Chicago Works app will allow you to make service requests to 311 and track issues as they are addressed. Simply put, you can watch your tax-dollars work for you. Chicago Works is a mobile application developed by 2pensmedia and Ald. Ameya Pawar. The first version of the app came out while Ameya ran for alderman. Chicago Works was the first service request app developed in Chicago. After the election, 2pensmedia and Ameya worked with the Mayor’s office and fellow alderman to develop a more robust app that plugs into the Open311 framework.

"Very helpful - Helped me track down the correct path for service request follow-ups and gave me a good overview potential help areas within City departments. 2pens also was quick to respond to a technical question." - Kevin Black

"Finally someone who took the initiative to create a system to submit requests right from my phone. Simple yet very nice looking interface. Great work!!" - Dimitri

Very Limited Utility

Nice idea - report problems when you find them - but app so badly built as to render it almost useless. There are only a dozen or so categories of problems. There are equally limited descriptions of the problem. There's no "other" category. The app regularly gets the location wrong, including the ward number. There's no capability to provide a video. Etc. So it's usually better to make some notes and go to the website. Must cut down on the number of tickets. Maybe that was the idea?

Pop-up ads prevent free app from working

The pop-up ads prevent the free app from working. They take you to the app store and prevent you from submitting a report. If you go back to the app from the app store, a new ad takes you back to the app store again. Frustrating. You need to remove these types of ads if you want to get paid by advertising for a free app. Would not pay for the paid version of an app if this is the experience for the free version.

It was okay and then it wasn't

I was excited to have this app and despite its cumbersome set of menus, it seemed to work....and then it stopped. I paid for the ad-free version and it kept asking me if I wanted to get the ad-free version. Some requests would just time out and I could make more request. I couldn't look up the status of any of my requests. It just stopped working well - it became easier just to go online.
