Pros: Art is very well done, and HO scenes look cohesive rather than looking like a pasted mess. Map navigation is always a plus! Little Phoenix helper is a cute idea. Also this game does one thing better than ANY I've played-- moving an object from inventory to interact with another object is EASY! What a relief-- no moving it again and again to get the precise little pixel-sized point right!
Cons: My big navigation pet peeve-- tapping the lower quarter of the screen trying to search for things takes you back a move. PLEASE GAME DEVS PLEASE PLEASE STOP DOING THIS. Especially when you put interesting things in the artwork on that part of the screen that look like possible items! PLEASE USE BACK BUTTONS INSTEAD. Argh.
Only other con is that the story is a little disjointed; starts abruptly with little explanation and just doesn't make a lot of sense.
If you play these games for well-written stories, maybe skip this one. If you play for the art, the puzzles, and the HO scenes, this is a good one.
Have been addicted to HOGs since the first MCF a decade or so ago. Have skipped all cutscenes and muted all sounds in all games for at least 5 years, as they so often feel like useless filler.
However, the intro scene of what looked like 17th century France, intro organ music and lush crisp graphics made me want to take the time to listen and watch, time for which I was greatly rewarded.
Graphic artwork is just delicious, for which the artists deserve great praise. The sad, minor-key music is above and beyond for a casual game.
This one really made me slow down to absorb and appreciate the effort and talent. Exploring 17th century France is such a treat!
These are just immediate first impressions, and can't wait to dig in to the rest of Chimeras.
The creator/designers did an absolutely fantastic job. The flow was great, the clues were on target, you could figure out where stuff was suppose to be. The HOs were good. Graphics very good. Thank you for an awesome map that you could click and it got you to the location. Extra game was good also. Just wish all the games were done this well. There wasn't a moment of frustration. This was a Total enjoyment. Loved the little helper. After reviewing others comments i agree on the ability to know what item is in inventory. But Bravo to developers! By the way paperback books run $7.99 each and I read only once,so a game that gives hours of enjoyment when well done is worth the 6.99.
