• Upgrade to pro, and download from your PC, Mac or NAS as well
• Parental controls let you flag specific comics as ok, and passcode-lock everything else out of sight
• Single-page or two-up page view
• Right-to-left reading mode
• Post screenshots directly to Twitter, Facebook, or Reddit
Chunky supports CBZ, CBR, CBT and PDF comics, and understands ComicRack and ComicBookLover tags.
It can browse and download directly from iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Transporter, Google Drive, OneDrive, Amazon Cloud Drive, Box, Pogoplug, Mediafire and Copy, and you can copy files in and out with iTunes on your computer or download them via the built-in web browser.
Upgrade to Pro and it'll also connect to Mac or Windows shared folders, FTP or SFTP servers, ComicStreamer, Calibre or Ubooquity libraries, and run a mini web and webDAV server you can use to copy files in and out.
What's New in Version 2.5.1
Fix a nasty crash on startup related to .CBT comics.
Apologies if you were affected, and my thanks to everyone who reported the problem.
I paid for the pro upgrade, out of sheer respect for this product
I am an extremely stingy user. If there is a free solution available that meets my needs, I use it. There are very FEW apps on my iPad that are paid, and of those, it is because it was the only way to get the features I needed, or the experience was far superior to any free product I could find.
Enter Chunky, the very first app that I have paid for a Pro upgrade, even though there was ABSOULTELY NO NECESSITY to upgrade. The app is basically given away for free, fully functional. It is not a cut down version in the least. The pro features are just icing on the cake. At least, for me, they are. You may place more importance on the pro features than I did. I just know that I could have continued to use the app without upgrading and not be missing out on anything essential.
It is no small feat to give me a fully functioning product, and it be so good, that I simply felt compelled to pay for it anyway. So, stop your search for a comic book reader for the ipad, you have found it. Even if you do not spend a dime, it is still the best reader in the store.
However, after using it, I am fairly certain you will want to give this author your money anyway, just like I did. It just basically feels wrong to not pay for this app, it is that good.
Best Comic Reader On The Market
I've tried seemingly every reader in the app store. I had a Galaxy S4 for about six months and tried every reader in their store. Man, I even had a Surface Pro 2 for about a year and tried every reader app in THEIR store. Chunky is, hands down, the BEST app for reading comics I've ever used.
Being able to add files from my OneDrive is top-notch. The app is fast, it has intuitive controls, and it looks fantastic. Plus, and this is VERY important to me, Michael gives some of the best support out there. I've had two very minor bugs, and he's been super quick to help me.
In short, I could not recommend this app any more. If I could give it 50 stars, I would. Thanks for the great app, and keep up the good work, Michael.
Absolutely the best
When I first tried this app it was pretty good, but not the best, but it was by far the easiest to get my comic book files into so I stuck with it. Over the several years since, the developer has improved and refined every aspect of the app, from the organization UI to the reading interface to the performance. This is now bar none one of the best apps on the iPad. If you read comics of any kind, you should at least give this app a try. I am particularly a fan of the numerous easy options for downloading comics for a server or cloud storage account. If you have a digital comics collection on a NAS or server this will solve any frustrations you have. A+.
