CityTransit - Official NYC Subway Maps
By Magnetism Studios
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
CityTransit is a complete guide to the New York City Subway system. It's the only NYC subway guide that includes the official new MTA licensed subway maps, line data, a GPS-based station finder and live service advisories.
The locator tool uses GPS to help you find the nearest subway station and integrates with the Maps application. Built-in service advisories download data from the MTA's website so you can plan your weekend trips.
CityTransit is the only subway guide that includes the official MTA subway map, the Manhattan Bus map, and a LIRR and Metro North map.
Just tap the maps button twice to see all the different maps available (including a fun Antique subway map)

Key tool in the tool belt of any NewYorker
I can't tell you how many times a year I refer to this app. It's especially useful for the service advisories that it downloads. I don't like that the Station Locator always drops you in midtown Manhattan (rather than centering the map on your current location) and Fort Hamilton Parkway is mislabeled on the N Line chart. I would have emailed these feedback points privately but the developer website doesn't offer a feedback link and the developer's App Support link in the App Store is broken. So it's s great app as long as you don't ask for more than they give you. Such as support.
A VERY good tool, but...
A great help for newbies or longtime New Yorkers. This is one of the first and most important apps I've ever had. Would love if they could include the MTA's official late night subway service app, and make it clearer on the location service which subways are close by. Sometimes they can be hard to find among all the bus listings.
I like the simplicity of this app, and the clean interface. The design is very well-done. Unfortunately, nobody has updated this app in two years. For example, the 7 Line extension to 34th Street and 11th Avenue opened to the public in May 2015. But the map still shows the 7 as ending at Times Square and 42nd Street. So unfortunate. Hello, CityTransit? Anybody there?
