Ratings and Reviews
Years ago science fiction writers imagined a world where we’d read books and magazines on these little handheld computer thingies. Well, here we are.
Clarkesworld is my favorite magazine to read, and being able to read it on an iPad is oddly appropriate.
Good content, terrible app
The magazine has excellent sci-fi stories and interesting articles but the MAZ app running under Apple's Newstand is nothing but frustrating to use. Issues that you buy are not readable unless you keep a wifi connection open. If you don't, the app rudely displays downloaded pages out of focus. What's up with that?
The app has lots of useless bells and whistles for clipping images and text and sharing them via social media. But suppose you just want to READ the blasted magazine? It has just about the worst touch reader I have seen. Very difficult to turn pages, no ability set font size or select a prefered font, seems to be no more than a badly designed pdf reader.
Skip this app and do NOT subscribe. You are better offbuying individual issues from Kobo and using a decent reader.
Sometimes Print is Better
I like the podcast but some stories definitely work better on the page. If the podcast isn't clear, I sit down and read the story.
