Ratings and Reviews
With its clean, colorful interface and intuitive swipe controls, Clear makes managing to-do lists across multiple devices lightning-fast and almost effortless. Its rainbow-hued checklists are like miniature works of art, making it simple to tell at a glance what you need to do and how urgently you need to do it. Bells? Whistles? Nah, but that’s by design. The developers knows that creating a to-do list is about managing chores, not creating new ones.
A great and intuitive app that is hampered by sync issues
I've been using Clear for about a year now. It's an indispensable tool for making quick and easy to manage lists. One example is my wife and I went wine tasting a couple months back and we wanted to remember all the places we visited and which ones we liked the best. I started creating the list in Clear as we visited each one and then when we would discover a favorite I could easily move them up the list in ranking. Clear makes arranging lists so easy. And as a shopping list it's perfect because you can mark items off the list as complete but they can remain as inactive so when updating your shopping list you can see some of the staple items you've bought before and add them to the list again.
But that brings me to its one frustrating downfall, because it's suppose to have cloud sync which does work sometimes but it's too inconsistent to be relied upon. Just last week I told my wife I would make a Costco run after work so I asked her to go through the house and do an inventory of what we needed and update Clear. She did this but our lists would not sync. So I got to Costco and didn't have the list ready to use on my phone. Quite frustrating. She had to text me screen shots of the list from her phone. The next day the lists synced and we didn't make any changes to our settings.
So as a list program it's slick and worth the money, but for cloud sync don't rely on it or you'll probably get burned.
Incredible list app
I PRAY the developers don't listen to the complainers regarding all the things the app DOESN'T do... or, at least, if they sell out, that they then include a "keep it simple" option that preserves the current functionality as is. This is the simple list keeper I've been looking for, and I've used a lot of them. I thought the new "Reminders" app was decent before I found this one. It's ridiculously easy to add items, delete them or mark them as complete. And deleting completed items? A work of art. The app with its use of gestures is great, just as it is. If the developers choose to weigh it down with detailed screens for items, stars, location-based nonsense, collaboration that require account creation and the like, I'll be very disappointed. My only knock on the app is that it has the ugliest, most obnoxious icon in the history of icons. It's an eyesore on my screen. And to think that it's derived from their "heat map" concept is further frustrating since the heat map is superfluous nonsense. The heat map is based on importance but importance is based solely on how you manually order your items. Sure, it adds color but no other purpose. Thank goodness the developers included themes else I'd not use the app. I'd not be able to work in a sea of oranges without having a come-apart. But since I can bypass that by using a different theme, my complaints boil down to just the one about the horrendous icon. Nonetheless, a 10 star app.
