Upgrades are supposed to be improvements--
New version is not better. BTW The video for commercials always loads FAST--but the video for the news stories only loads 40% of the time if I wait forever. And too many stories are video only--so you can't access them if you're not able to use earphones if, for example, you're in a meeting. And evidently no news happens on the weekend because the app is stale from Friday to Monday--frequently stale during the week too. And then of course, there is a huge bias that you just have to ignore. Most of the stories are simply opinion pieces posing as journalism. Although bias seems to be primarily related to politics and global warming. CNN is fairly balanced when it comes crime and entertainment news lol.
(Months later) Nope....I re- read my review and this is still how I feel--although you're dining a little better now that intro the guest writers of your opinion pieces instead of allowing them to pose as real journalism.
Old and Misleading news, videos crash,
This app is terrible. I was once "alerted" on the lock screen of my phone that "Betty White dies peacefully in her home at the age of 93" just to find out when I had enough time later to read the app, that she DYED her hair. How is this important news at all? Did I really need to be notified of this?! And this is after the fact that I had spread the word to my colleagues and coworkers at my new job. So what does that make me look like CNN? Like a liar, someone who gives false information and someone who can't be trusted. Getting a video to load is impossible, it will crash and not play almost half the time. But don't worry, the 30 second Geico commercial before the news you want to find out about will play just fine. This app is full of uninteresting and outdated information. Far from the television CNN. They should just stick to Anderson Cooper and call it good because like their news on here, they can't seem to get this app right either.
In a past review, I regarded CNN as"objective"; however, more and more I'm noticing individual anchors inserting their own feelings about a topic (or political party!) either through direction of their questioning or voice inflection/ facial expressions during their reporting/questioning. ALSO, I'm disappointed in some anchors exhibiting the rude behavior of frequently interrupting or cutting off the interviewee, especially when the anchor seems to not agree with interviewee. We need more of a Don Lemon-type presentation and less of others I hesitate to name. A final request, please? Give us more typed stories and less that are "video only". At the very least, give the OPTION for the video but have full typed version attached to the video. Thank you for listening.
