What's New in Version 4.3
Minor performance enhancements
Rating only for Breaking News feature
All mainstream media are bias, for one agenda or the other. I write this review in reference to my cell app only. I am extremely pleased with the very swift and automatic Breaking News Alerts or important news items that appear directly on my cell screen. Usually, the sentence or two of text is enough to keep me fairly updated and why I choose this app. When I do choose to open the app for more info on an item, I find the articles concise but with enough information to keep me feeling well informed on a given subject of interest. The issue that keeps me from rating higher is that when I do open an app, I want the written article, yes, but I'm looking also for video bites. On occasion, when I know a video is available but not included with the story, I am disappointed. 'No video' is not often a part of this app but it is aggravating when it does fail to supply one on limited occasion. A side note: I realize and appreciate the app is a free service and advertising helps that happen. I accept the fact I will be hit with ads when I open a story, but dude...there are a lot of ads here. It has happened that I have closed out the app before finishing an article to the end solely for the reason of having to scroll through so many ads. Overall, I am happy with the service and plan to continue to use it at this time.
Balanced unbiased news---NOT!!
Whenever I want news that presents the facts....the facts....and not opinions, I don't come to CNN. Yes, sometimes they have unbiased, neutral reporting but it's usually about the pandas or a tragedy and survival somewhere. But when it comes to important politics or government activities or even the reporting of things that matter to our nation such as healthcare, CNN always puts a spin on it and makes the situation somebody's fault. There's a liberal edge with a few slight "opinions", never just factual reporting. The other news organization is just as bad on the other end of of the spectrum. Sometimes I want to shout..."What are the facts and why won't you let me make up my own mind what I think?" Almost every news anchor is liberal and presents an hour full mixed rhetoric of "their" opinions. They get intense with the guests they interview blatantly pushing their point of view on them until they can twist the responses so that it appears everyone agrees and adhere to their belief of the "facts"! Please return to the news agency that you once were! Please just report the news and bring live interviews with balanced questions and interesting points of views. Please quit pushing your agenda and deliberately sabotaging a news story!
Come on guys
Alright, I complained about the hundreds of typos and errors that the stories have had, and I must admit you have cleaned it up a bit. I'll give you that. Furthermore, I really like CNN as a news source. I think you guys reports things fairly. I also enjoyed seeing those 30 second adds we had to sit through before watching 2 minute news videos go down to 15 seconds.
What I can't do is the new surprise adds on articles!! We already had to avoid hitting the adds sitting in the middle of the page. Now you are telling me I'll be mid sentence and get a stupid 5-10 second add thrown in my face before I can finish it?? It's ridiculous. It really is. Do you realize this makes readers feel like they are reading a buzzfeed article?? Or any of the other subpar Facebook "news" sources which you can't even get through a paragraph of their text without being interrupted?
This is just so annoying because, like I said, I LIKE CNN. A lot. But you have to get your crap together. Just in the past 48 hours I've found 2 REALLY bad writing errors and had to close the app 3 or 4 times because of the unsolicited popup adds freezing or the videos I clicked on that wouldn't allow me to hit the "done" button after I decided I wasn't interested.
