Turn-by-turn GPS navigation when riding your bike, with spoken instructions to keep you eyes on traffic. You will never again need to stop and look at your phone when uncertain if you're on track.

Only Co-Rider offers:
• English, Dutch, German and Danish instructions such as "turn left in 25 meters" or "turn left at traffic lights" through your headphones.
• automatic calculation of a new route when you miss a direction. You almost never have to turn back.
• uses bicycle routes where possible, which are safer and often shorter.
• lower battery usage than other navigation apps with only onscreen instructions.
• no risk of theft, as you can keep your iPhone safe in your pocket.

Routes are specifically tailored to bikes, using bicycle paths where available and avoiding roads unsuitable for bikes. They are generated using OpenStreetMap data, and the app will mostly be useful in areas where OpenStreetMap coverage is good. You will be able to try out navigation for free for 10 days to get a sense of the route quality.

TCX and GPX files from other programs or websites can be used as routes in Co-Rider. Start out in the application where you have the TCX or GPX file (Dropbox, Mail, etc.) and choose Open in Co-Rider. For best results use TCX files with cue sheets.

Co-Rider uses the GPS while navigating which can decrease battery life. When you reach your destination the GPS is no longer needed and battery usage returns to normal.

Great Turn-by-Turn Nav for Cycling

I create routes on the MapMyRide website, export that to a GPX file, email it to myself, then press and hold that icon in the Mail app on my iPhone. Then I choose to open it in Co-Rider and voila (!) -- I have just created a route that I can have audio turn-by-turn navigation for when I'm riding my bike.

So glad I found this app. It is too bad that I have to use two different services to achieve this and MapMyRide doesn't just have this built in, but oh well. This works really great.

I’d love to say something better than ‘good enough'

Using this to load my own routes onto it for turn by turn directions. Navigation and animation are a little clunky and there are too many prompts for turns IMO. It is much cheaper (10x) and better looking than other offerings with similar functions.

It has a few nice touches like relative volume for voice prompts and RideWithGPS integration. While ideally a more elegant solution would be wonderful, this gets the job done.

Works great after you get used to the bugs

First thing first, I love this app and use it all the time. It does exactly what it says it does. I used it on a 92 mole ride in new territory a few weeks ago and didn't get lost. My only complaint is that there are a few bugs I've experienced; most of them have been related to using it with a Bluetooth headset.
