Coder Calc is a full featured scientific calculator tailored for programmers.
Best of all, it operates in Standard or Reverse Polish Notation modes, complete with a multi-line stack display! If you have an iPad, you also get the Scratch Pad, which is a neat way to work with stack values using your fingers.
In addition to the usual hexadecimal and binary base conversion, it features extensive programming-specific functions such as bit shifting, masking, two's complement, IEEE-754 conversion, and more. You can enter data in decimal, hex, or binary, and types can be mixed freely. Coder Calc also features a full suite of scientific and engineering operations. The operations are tailored to your preferred orientation, so depending on how you old the device, you get a different experience.
There are extensive customization options for appearance and function. Graphically, it's made to look right at home on your iPhone. If you've always felt calculators needed shinier buttons, then Coder Calc is for you!

Great Calculator, 1 Big Flaw For Me
I saw this calculator and read the reviews and saw that it was just what I was looking for: a good, RPN-capable, easy-to-use programmer's calculator to replace the built-in calc.
So I bought it.
Unfortunately, it turns out it's only capable of part of what I mentioned above: It is a simple-to-use, very good RPN-capable calculator, but it can't REPLACE the built-in for me. It loads WAY too slowly right now. When you need a calculator on your phone, you usually need it NOW. From the time you press the button, it takes anywhere from 5 to 9 seconds to come up! That's an eternity if you're standing in line somewhere to calculate a price, or gas mileage at the pump, etc.
Hopefully, this is something the developer can and will fix. If so, I'll certainly revise my review to reflect the change. If not for this lag, I would gladly have given this app a full 5 stars. It's that good, once it starts up.
Great little calculator for a programmer!
I was looking for an RPN calculator that easily handles some of the hex/binary tasks that I do daily. After checking out some of the others I finally found Coder Calc. Search complete!
One advantage for me is that it doesn't slavishly follow any of the HP calculators in layout or functionality. It pays homage to them but it's its own entity, and a better fit for my current needs because of it. I don't need graphing in a calculator any more, for example. Nor do I need unit conversion (there are easier methods than using my 48sx's conversion routines) or statistics. If you need those then there are plenty of apps that are little more than ports of one or another of HP's beloved calculators around. This one, though, is new and filling its role very nicely.
Good app, but...
Good app, it does exactly what it should do. Also, unlike the other "programmer" calculators, it looks good!. However, I wish the program would load faster. It does not inhibit the use of it, but it is just a little annoying. If this could be fixed, it would get the 5/5 from me.
