I love this app. Essential for my Computer Science classes.
The problems with v1.3.1 running under Snow Leopard are fixed in v1.3.2, which the developer kindly sent me after I emailed my concerns over my upcoming CS classes and a non-working CodeRunner app under Snow Leopard. He stated he was having problems getting Apple to approve v1.3.2 for release. Not sure why. It seems to work fine for me.
Those having problems under Snow Leopard could always upgrade to Mountain Lion, which should get v1.3.1 working again. I didn't want to do that because I love Snow Leopard... clearly the most stable version of OS X I've ever seen... and I've used them all from the initial release.
I just wanted to make everyone aware that a fix is done but the developer is having issues with Apple over its release. Keep the faith. This is a great app and a great developer. He usually responds promptly to my emails if I have a problem to report. I look forward to future development of this app. It's making my CS classes much less of a hassle.
AWESOME LITTLE APP! BUY BUY BUY!
As a computer science major, I use this app ALOT on mountain lion. I have used it through courses in C++ and JAVA. Its simple to use interface makes it very enjoyable to work with: simply open it, chose your programming language and type away. For those skeptical about whether or not it will suit your needs, I have used this app in advanced java data structures courses and it takes just about anything I throw at it, so maybe that will tell you something about it. Whether its comparable to a full flegged compiler or not is something I dont know, maybe I just havn't done advanced enough programming to see the difference. All that aside, once again, this little app is amazing. I reccomended it it to a handfull of my friends (who are also computer science majors), that love it and is all they use for their coding assignments/projects. Best 10$ ever spent.
What a great buy!
Just downloaded this application in mid-October 2012. First off I was blown away by not only the simplicity, but how well it worked. Colored coding, lined numbering and a convienent compile and run button. Have only been using for Java so far, but have genuinely been amazed at the power of this application. Sets up right away based on the type of programs you intend on writing. I love Textmate for the mac, and have been using that till now, but this will probably be my go to for a while until I need a bit more feature rich text editor. Also, it allows me to use Scanner, unlike Textmate. Great application and a for sure recommendation to you if your thinking about buying it!
