Strange and Extremely Effective
I first stumbled upon this app about a year ago, not knowing really what to do with it. It seemed sort of silly really. Then, I started to 'use' it. At breakfast, at times when I was alone but engaged in study and writing. It might seem counter-intuitive, but at least from my perspective, it's improved my productivity and concentration. It's even had a strange anti-depressive effect at times.
You can play background music accompanying the coffeehouse din; with jazz it almost seems like you're at the local Starbucks, albeit without the genuine conversation and strong, expensive java.
While there is no replacing the joy of personal connectivity and being 'out there' in the world, this app makes a good attempt at doing so. I recommend it. It's weird, but it works.
Most effective software for cafe white noise
I love that you can play music of your choice at the same time as the cafe sounds, and adjust the volume of each. This feature lets me use the same cafe sounds clip over and over without getting distracted by subtle repeats in the white noise. The white noise of the cafe gives my productivity a huge boost and I've tried a lot of websites/ methods for creating this type of audio environment. I do wish they would supply a few more cafe sounds clips though-- I use this app so frequently that my brain is starting to pick up bits of the conversations and notice when the clip repeats. But I still love the app and it far surpasses anything else I've found.
Others have mentioned the need for longer tracks that don’t have noticeable repeats. But why hasn’t this been updated for nearly two years? How about giving us access to the premium tracks from the website (for a price, of course).
I also don’t quite get the sound controls. It seems that if you click on the music tab you should be able to control the music volume, and if you click on the coffee cup, that should control the background noise volume. But it doesn’t seem to work correctly for me and I have problems tweaking the balance of sounds.
