- Cogs won the grand prize in the professional category at the 2010 Indie Game Challenge.
- Cogs was also a finalist at IndieCade 2009 and the 2010 Independent Games Festival.
Inventor Mode: Starting with simple puzzles, players are introduced to the widgets that are used to build machines - gears, pipes, balloons, chimes, hammers, wheels, props, and more.
Time Challenge Mode: If you finish a puzzle in Inventor Mode, it will be unlocked here. This time, it will take fewer moves to reach a solution, but you only have 30 seconds to find it.
Move Challenge Mode: Take your time and plan ahead. Every click counts when you only get ten moves to find a solution.
Does not work with the Intel GMA 950 or older graphics card.
What's New in Version 1.0.1
Thanks to our early players for reporting bugs as you find them!
I've been hard at work and Cogs should now properly support more graphics cards, including the ATI Mobility Radeon X1600
Just plain fun!
I wanted a game that would provide a solid challenge but one that would not be overwhelmingly difficult. I like games that you can play and beat a level and advance, only to go back days later and replay a prior level in the persuit of the perfect score. This game does just that which adds plenty of replayability. The gameplay mechanics feel nice with the Magic Trackpad. The ability to configure the graphics levels is a nice feature available in the options menu, as I cranked up all of the levels. Even with the settings set for best presentation, the game played smooth and clean. If you are not sure about this game go ahead and try the free version first, but I really enjoy this entry and believe other fans of puzzlers will too.
Overall very good
Very creative and slickly presented. My mid-2010 Macbook Pro handled it without any lag, but the fans really kicked in; luckily it isn't too loud to overwhelm the pleasant soundtrack. This game should keep me occupied for a while. The puzzles so far are solvable after a few minutes of thinking, which is great, since long puzzles frustrate me. The later levels look much harder, so don't expect to blow through this. Ten dollars is a very fair price for this game.
This is a fun, challenging, and extremely well designed game. The only drawback is that if you attempt to minimize (command + M) it will completely freeze your computer, with the only way to unfreeze it being a force power down. It sometimes does this with the quit function also, command+Q. Apparently some of their other games also have this flaw. Please fix this and it will definitely be a 5 star rating!
