***Make Sure Your Phone Meets Minimum Requirements for ARKit***
With ColdSpotting, you can:
Visualize the strength of your network across time and space.
Find deadspots where your reception isn't well covered and maximize reception.
Diagnose poor or intermittant network performance.
Perform site surveys to ensure high-reliability.
Test connections using real-world devices.
Compare coverage across manufactures and product lines.
How it works:
We use ARKit, the Augmented Reality framework, provided by Apple, and optimized for their specific iOS hardware. When you tap the screen we take a snapshot of the Wireless Signal Strength at a specific location and draw a virtual box into the scene that is color coded to represent the relative strength of the Wifi in that exact spot(Green is Better, Red is Worse). By moving within a space, you can take samples at different spots to create a map of your network in 3-Dimensional space.
Simply Tap your screen to test Strength in a specific location. A Box will appear at that location indicating the strength of your Wifi signal by it's color(Green is Better, Red is worse). By moving around and repeatedly placing multiple points in an area, you can diagnose Cold Spots in your coverage.
FYI - ColdSpotting pings our server at ShowBlender.com, so Data Charges may apply.
ColdSpotting requires an ARKit compatible iPhone with an A9 or later processor:
iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
iPad Pro (9.7, 10.5 or 12.9) – both first-gen and 2nd-gen
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
We now support visualizing Cellular Signals as well as Wifi. You can compare networks to determine the best signal.
Fixed a bug with iPhone X that would cause crashes with some users.
Ratings and Reviews
This amazing app allows you to walk around with your phone to find good and bad WiFi areas by measuring the ping speed at each location. Then it plots good and bad spots on augmented reality view so that you can see where the color coded hot spots and dead spots are. My output doesn’t look quite like the output shown in some of the demo pictures, but it appears to work just fine for me. Instructions for use are very sparse, so it takes some practice before you learn to get the max benefit.
Doesn’t work. Tried 3 devices which were listed. Waste of money.
ColdSpotting crashes immediately on my iPhone X.
I downloaded this app for my iPhone X today. The first time it launched, I was asked for permission to use the camera, which I granted. The app crashes a second after starting to show the live camera display.
After several attempts, I deleted and redownloaded the app. Still it crashes. I powered off and then restarted. Still it crashes. I took the update for iOS 11.2.6. Still it crashes. At this point I have to conclude that this app is a complete waste of my time and money.
Version 2.0 addresses this issue with the iPhoneX. I'm sorry you had such a bad user experience. E-mail email@example.com if this isn't working for you, and I will make it right.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
